My Dream Mother's Day!
For my first Mother's Day, I really just wanted a quiet one, alone with DH and DS. I didn't want to deal with going out to a restaurant or buying food to serve at home. DHs parents originally were thinking of doing something with us, however they suggested next weekend instead! Nothing against his parents, but I'd rather not entertain this year.
Ahhh, so I have the Mother's Day I wanted!

Re: My Dream Mother's Day!
This exactly what we are doing, just DH and the boys. Depending on the weather outside, we will go to a park and have a picnic.
Enjoy!

Re: My Dream Mother's Day!
That's wonderful that you get to spend Mother's Day just the way you want to!
We are having my mom and MIL over to our house. Very casual. My dad is in England so he's not around and MIL is divorced... so we are bringing all the moms and grandmoms together!

we have the battle of the holidays yet again...i may do it to myself more then anything...MIL ALWAYS thinks that we should be at her house for holidays...even more so now that DD is here...my mom I know would love to have us and has told me its up to me and she wont be upset if we dont go to her house (she knows how much pressure i put on myself and end up breaking down)...well of course i want to go to my moms...but MIL will do "that thing" she does when things dont go her way and honestly if an almost 50 yr old needs to do that i want to see her on special occasions even less! so I still have NO clue what we are doing! im avoiding making the decision! i kinad just want to stay home and have it with MY family

Is this your first Mother's Day? It sounds like it is. Maybe just thank her for inviting you over, but explain that you guys wanted to spend it by yourselves this year. Of course, I wasn't up to doing this either myself--I'm guessing my in-laws thought about ti and changed their minds. Just curious, what is the thing she does?

it is my first yes...if she dosent agree with something you do or say...she does the "oooooh" sigh and a look of i dont approve...and says if thats what you think is right...but the whole time you know shes trying to guilt you into doing what she wants...it works with her kids most of the time, but even they get sick of it and avoid her at times (the 3 older ones anyway)

Yea!!
I'm right there with you. We put our house up on the market this week and have a ton of people coming to look at it.
So we're getting the hell out of dodge and headed to the Poconos for a quiet weekend, just the three of us.

Re: My Dream Mother's Day!
I am SO jealous! Its my first Mother's Day and we are having both sides over at our house. That is 18 people - yes you read that correctly! And on top of it, its my neice's (DH's side) birthday so we are having cake for her. It wouldn't have been horrible but SIL emailed me yesterday and said she invited another 8 people over for dessert (that's without asking me - I wouldn't have said no - but she COULD HAVE asked). Happy Mother's Day to me......

Re: My Dream Mother's Day!
That's great!!
For my 1st Mother's Day (last year), we went out for dinner the Thursday before, just the three of us. I absolutely hate long waits and huge crowds at restaurants, plus you usually don't get the service or quality when they are that busy.
We had a wonderful dinner on a deck overlooking the harbor and I had my first beer in months. It was awesome.
I hope you have a great first mother's day!!
