My first birthday without my Gram..

Friday was my first birthday ever without my grandmother.

I was the first in the family to celebrate a birthday without her so far.

It was heart wrenching. I went to the cemetary. I brought her a bouquet of tulips and left a note with them. I then gave my mom the same bouqet as a thank you for having and raising me.

Every birthday I looked forward to her phone call. And when she got too sick and elderly for that, I would just go and hold her hand. She ALWAYS enjoyed birthday cake. I wish I could just hold her hand one more time. I know she lived a full life and I am happy that she is peaceful..but my heart is simply aching for my gram to be in my life again.

I know what you mean. My grandmother passed away 2 months ago. This year will be the first bday i have without her. She had Alzheimer's. We all secretly feel it was a blessing she wasn't in her right mind when my mother passed away 1 1/2 years ago. She would've lost it. I'm here for you if you need it.
