My first "spot" this morning
so, for the first time this entire pregnancy, there was the smallest hint of "color" when I wiped. it was the faintest pink/brown, and there wasn't any more when I did it again.
now, I peed many times during the night with the light off..so I am not sure if I had any additional spotting or stronger color before that time...but needless to say ANYTHING other that wet spot on the tp was for me.
I HAVE been having what feels like mild period cramps (front and back) for at least a week. it's not from sex.
I am 32 weeks. I don't THINK I am going any time soon..but my question is, at what point do they NOT try to stop a "pre term" delivery.
would they attempt to stop labor at this point in the game, generally speaking?
baby seems fine. moving around. nothing out of the ordinary.
just the low grade cramps is really all I am dealing with.
TIA.

Re: My first "spot" this morning
Like you I haven't had any spotting this entire pregnancy but all my bathroom trips in the middle of the night are in the dark so I can't know for sure. I would think that they would still try to stop labor at 32 weeks because the lungs are not fully completed at that point. I think 36 weeks is where they would let you go into labor, even though 37 is considered full term.

Re: My first "spot" this morning
At my 31 wk appt they told me at any signs of contractions, bleeding, fluid loss to call them, it's too early. I would call just to be on the safe side.

see, my doc said mild contractions are ok, especially b/c of the humidity.
truth be told, I did a bit too much manual labor these last few days and with the heat, perhaps I could drink more water.
I LOATHE going to the doctors office. I think I'll drink more water and try to relax. if anything gets weird, I'll give in and make the call.
I don't want to overly worry, but don't want to be foolish either.

Re: My first "spot" this morning
I know at 32 weeks they would stop it and possibly at 34 as well. My guess is 35 weeks they wouldn't try to stop it anymore. At least this is what my dr's told my friend. She was having contractions at 32 weeks. They gave her a shot to stop the contractions and 3 steriod shots.
When she was 35 weeks she asked what they would do if she were to have contractions again. They said they wouldn't stop it. She had the baby at 37 1/2 weeks though.

Re: My first "spot" this morning
I REALLY don't think these are "labor" contractions..more than my uterus flexing a little.
it's not even pain really...just discomfort.
I know I am kinda making up excuses...I just really don't think this is anything like that. and I don't want to get steroid shots and the like if I don't need to.

I don't think they would give you steroids now, I think they would give you something to stop the contractions. Try drinking water and resting for a while. My next appt is at 34 wks so you do fall in to the time frame my doctor was talking about, and I had to ask what contractions feel like b/c I don't think I have had any yet, not even braxton hicks.

Re: My first "spot" this morning
I delivered at 34 weeks---they did try to stop my labor, I was told if I was 35 weeks they might not have been quite as aggressive (I had multiple meds, fluids, etc) I would call your doctor, I know its a PITA if they ask you to come in or go to L&D, but I tend to err on the side of caution after everything I went thru!

Re: My first "spot" this morning
I've been experiencing mild menstrual like cramping for the past few weeks, (I'm 33 weeks 4 days) but I haven't spotted at all this entire pregnancy. I would call the doctor also, as this is something that I was told the doctor should be notified about. The doctor may advise you to simply rest with your feet up and increase your water intake. He/She may not want you to go into the office, at all, but call just to be sure.

Re: My first "spot" this morning
One of my best friends had very very mild period like cramping at 32 weeks. She actually wasnt sure if it was the baby hiccuping and casually mentioned it to her doc at her 32 week check up. Turns out it was pre-term contractions, and they ended up putting her on moderate bed rest and some medication to stop them. (She took it until 36 weeks) She was totally fine and ended up not going into labor until right around her due date. I remember her telling me never in a million years would she have thought these were "real" contractions.
ETA- they didn't give her steroids. never came close to that i don't think.

Re: My first "spot" this morning
Between the activity that you have done and how hot it has been, you could be dehydrated. I would drink lots of water and some gatorade and see how you feel in 2 hours.

Re: My first "spot" this morning
32 wks is def. too early. I would def. call the OB - not necessarily for the cramping but, if you have never spotted b/f and at 32 wks are spotting even slightly I would def. call - at that point with my last pg my OB told me to call if there was spotting. I'm sure its nothing but, better safe

Re: My first "spot" this morning
I was having light menstral cramps in my 32 week that I actually called my doc over the weekend and he said I can have them for the rest of the pregnancy but was not concerned at all. They have actually settled down since, but as long as they are not getting stronger I wouldn't worry. I don't have personal experiance, but I friend of mine was having real contractions at 35 weeks and they stopped her labor and waited until she was considered full term to do her scheduled c section

Re: My first "spot" this morning
i was at the dr on monday when i was 32w4d and told him about my contractions, belly tightening, back tightening, and mild cramping and he said its too early for labor and to call asap if it starts to form a pattern or i get more than 4 per hour. BUT he said after 35 weeks they wont try to stop it and they'll feel comfortable "taking" the baby. i was like "holdddddd it chief! lets not go crazy! " ...thats only 2 weeks away now! lets let the turkey keep cooking!
