I always look on snopes.com to see if this stuff is true. According to the site, the health information given is true, BUT:

I can tell you why I use it. I have a kosher home, so we don't mix meat and dairy. Some varieties of margarine are made without dairy products, so we are able to use it as a butter substitute.

ahhh now I know why my grandmother always said dont use margarine it will make you fat! I dont care for either butter or margarine, but when I do use it , I use butter- lightly salted.
