My fun-filled IVF related day...
Went in for monitoring first thing this morning- met Dr. Droesch (sp?) and got told I have 'lots of small follicles, with the largest measuring 6'. Got my bloodwork done and left. DH and I headed straight into to Queens b/c we were going to the Met game tonight (which BTW they won!! ) and DH had to work in Manhattan before that for a 1/2 day... anyway my phone rings this afternoon and the nurse tells me that Dr. K wants me to switch from subq to IM because he feels my body will absorb the medication better. To those of you who have done this, you're thinking this is no big deal- me however, starts having an anxiety attack... all day I couldn't get the thought out of my head! I ask if we can do it after the Met game (like an hour late I'm thinking) and I get told no- bring the meds with me into shea stadium and have DH give me the shot in the 'family restroom' at the same time as last night's shot. So that's what we did (and we got some funny looks from people as we were going in and leaving the 'family restroom' - I think they didn't think we needed eachother's company to use the restroom . My mom had to get me a cup of ice and I grabbed a shopping bag that i had in my car to wrap the ice in- DH and I went into the family bathroom and iced for like 5 mins, then I leaned over and...well you know the rest. We did it!!! I know to some this is nothing but it's one of my biggest fears with IVF- and we conquered it tonight Thank you Lauren and Christine- without you both and my cell phone, I would've never gotten through it. Question: Does IM bleed more than subq? I think DH did it right but I was def. bleeding more than I do w/ my sub-q shots in the stomach. Thanks!
ETA: Not sure where we'll be at on Fri in our cycle, but if nothing's going on and I'm feeling good we're supposed to go to the Billy Joel concert at (you guessed it) shea!!! I was crying b/c I was laughing so hard in the car today--- I told DH I guess we may get to do this memorable moment again lol! Here's hoping I'm done stimming by then... I would be thrilled if it ended up being the night before my retrieval- it would take my mind of things for a couple of hours. Only time will tell..... We got tickets long before we knew we'd have to do IVF.

Holy moley, I would have freaked if I had to do the shots at Shea. Good for you for getting through it! Since I"m overweight, I do my repronex IM and I get a spot of blood after every injection. I've only done the ganirelix SQ and i don't bleed with those.

WOW! Good for you!!! I don't know how I would have done that at Shea...seriously GOOD FOR YOU!!!!
I found the IM didn't hurt as much as SQ, but it did leave a drop of blood that the SQ didn't.
You're doing great!!!

Good for you!!!!
I "almost" had to do a shot at Shea one night (was meeting DH there and he was the one doing the shots since I am terrified of needles), but thankfully I somehow got up the nerve to actually do it myself!
I hope the Mets win brings you lots of luck this cycle

WOW! good for you doing it in the bathroom and getting through it. I am scared of the IM shots, mostly b.c I will have to do them myself b/c of dh's work schedule and fear of needles.

Wow!!! Good for you guys. IM in the Mets bathroom. Who knew? Maybe this is why I don't make plans. I've only had IM shots for the POI. And I have a nurse do it for me that comes to the house, b/c DH is afraid I will yell at him if he does it wrong (which is so true).

Believe me- the 1st thing I said to my mom and DH is 'this is why I don't want ANY plans during this!!!! ). I never expected this- I felt that we were so early into stimming that we were fine... but I guess not. Oh well, the worst (I think ) is over now--- at least the first of them- lol. I would've have even gone except it's Shea's last season at the current shea and I used to go there all the time w/ my parents and brother when I was little...I just couldn't pass on the opportunity to go one more time w/ my parents AND my DH. It made me a little sad to look around there last night- I was really sad that our kids will never see a game in that stadium the way we did growing up... I know there will be a new one, but it's not the same--- we have history there.... ok- enough of my being mushy- what is wrong w/ me!?!?!?! We got asked to go back on Sunday (last night actually DH got a call) w/ our friends and I said NO WAY!!!!! That was a once in a lifetime event for us- no more IM shots in the family restroom

Re: My fun-filled IVF related day...
YEAH!!!! DH and I were thinking of you all night! I told him that since we didn't hear from you at 8, you must be ok!!!!
I thought about the looks you might get going into and out of the bathroom together! Who knows what people thought you were doing .
Oh, and yes, the IM almost always bleed after DH did it. We had to keep a gauze nearby in case. Sorry I didn't mention that. I just though DH did the shot wrong!
