My hands are killing me
When I wake up in the morning, my fingers and hands are killing me, especially when I open and close my hands. Does anyone else experience this or know what it is?

Re: My hands are killing me
I have this too and my doc said it's carpal tunnel and it will only get worse It is very common during pregnancy. He suggested that I buy a wrist splint and sleep with it. I did and have not experienced any pain since. You should get one. There's no need for a fancy wrist splint, I just got the cheapest one at Duane Reade for $15.
Feel better

Re: My hands are killing me
I have been like this since I was about 14 weeks (and I am 31 weeks now). I bought wrist splints to sleep with. My hands would be numb and tingly, they have gotten better the last few weeks. Sleeping with them helped.

Re: My hands are killing me
I had it to. I had to wear a brace (really fun while trying to write on a chalkboard- talk about dirty- YUCK) but I can tell you once your little peanut is out it goes away so fast! Hang in there

Re: My hands are killing me
Carpal tunnel syndrome - it is really common in pregnancy. Sometimes wearing a wrist brace at night can help!

Re: My hands are killing me
Yup, it definitely sounds like carpal tunnel. I never got it really bad. My Dr. actually told me it can be caused by a build-up of too many salts and he told me to try drinking more fluids. It worked like a charm.

Re: My hands are killing me
Like everyone said definitely sounds like carpal tunnel. Wearing a splint helps and raising your hands above your head and shaking them will help releave some of the pain. I was diagnosed with it before I got pg and was told to wear a brace. I thought it would get worse as my pg progressed, but it completely stopped bothering me - go figure.
BTW.... if you wear it to sleep be careful. I hit hit DH in the forehead once with the hard part of the splint when turning over.
