My horrible Monday Night..(vent, whine, just letting it all out) - LONG

Ok, normally I could care less when I get up to go tink in the middle of the night but Monday it was an ordeal.

I’m generally a light sleeper for unrecognized or specifically known sounds. So I can sleep through my AC, traffic, cats meowing (I have three), scratching, buses, trash men, thunder, wind, hubby snoring, hubby getting into bed etc. But I’ll wake up at the sound of my cat throwing up, a wiggle of a door knob, the knock on the wall downstairs, etc.

So, Monday night, went to bed at my usual 11ish pm. I’m up again at 1am to go tink. Then I hear the cat toss up sound (again) around 3:30.

My diabetic cat tossed up all his dinner and since we give him his insulin when we feed him, we couldn’t feed him again. He eats at specific times at 6am and 8pm. He tossed up at 8pm, 11pm, 1am.

By 3:30am he had literally nothing at all left in his tummy. So I wake up Jim and tell him to take care of any mess that the cat may have left. Then I hear my hubby calling me “Babe, he’s acting strange” So up I go to check on the cat.

My cat was having a diabetic attack. He was in shock and really out of it. He was sniffing the ground all the way around the walls like he was looking for something he just HAD to find. We watched him make a whole circuit then finally I asked my hubby to pick him up (something the cat isn’t really fond of) and this time the cat didn’t even react, just kept sniffing. I looked at his face and his eyes were totally dilated and he was actually shivering.

So now my hubby’s all upset and worried and wants to know if we should go to the ER. I grab some maple syrup and mix it with some dry food and man does my cat attack it. After feeding him some sugar (syrup) and literally forcing some water down him, we watched him for another 10mins and he finally snapped out of it.

So back to bed I go.. at 4:15ish am…
I’m up again at 5:30 to tink
Cat feeding alarm goes off at 5:45
My alarm to start getting up goes off at 6:25

I really thought I was fine.. then at 4pm yesterday.. I felt DRAINED. It was my baby shower at the office too, so I had two huge bags of stuff to lug home in the subway and LIRR.

AND I had a 8:15pm appt with the doc!!!!!

SLEEP IS NOT TO BE UNDER ESTIMATED!!!

awwww poor kitty cat!!!! I would've felt awful, I can't see animals suffer. I think you handled it pretty well. As for the lack of sleep....I've been on 5 hours of sleep every night for the past 4 days! Going to bed at 1a.m waking up at 6 a.m I am going bonkers! lol
XOXOXO
