My iTouch screen cracked and I have an appointment at Apple Store...

I only got it for Christmas. I honestly don't know how it cracked -- I never dropped it or anything and it only sits on the kitchen counter. I literally just picked it up one day and it was cracked.

I went to the Apple store today (didn't have it with me) and asked if there's any way it could be repaired or if there was any warranty on it. He said I had to make an appointment to come in and sit down with someone to talk about it. He said sometimes they do switch them out and give you a new one.

So has anyone had any luck with this and ended up with a new one?

Please let me know what happens because my son just broke my mom's today. A giant crack across the entire screen. It still works, but the screen is all mangled

Yes Yes Yes, my daughter got an itouch for Christmas, she cracked the whole screen, and when i went in May they gave me a brand new one. They said they do it on a case to case basis, i just told them she does not have money to buy a new one and they guy just pulled out a new one and gave it to her. Just make sure it is backed up and if it is engraved, just forget about that because you have to mail it in. We did not care, because we were gettng a new one! Just be really nice, and it does work. i did this last christmas and i had to get a new one. it cost $200.
