My lease is up at the end of the month
And I am almost 12k over on the mileage 
Next car will be 15k a year!!

yikes!
Yeah I had a leased car in college, so I learned a lot from that...So when I got my current car, I made sure of asked for the 15K lease....my DH is way over and we WILL be in trouble when it's time to turn his in!

Lisa, call ahead and see if there is an early turn in program. DH is a GM dealer and I know they have programs like that. YOu can turn in early as long as you lease another. Not sure what your plans are!

I don't know, it just seems like a hassle
It's a Lexus SUV
Early Term with out a harsh penalty is normally 6 months and less ( i use to work in auto finance for Chase) Anything before 6 months is going to be 'ugly' in terms of getting out of it and paying penatly's
quite normal to purchase after lease...
how much is your milage over charge?

I was WAY over on my milage (like 30K over) so I ended up financing the balance on the car and I am not paying towards owning it.

I just leased a car and I made sure I got 15K miles. It is only $11 more a month, but it will pay off in the long run.
The dealer I got it from said I could return the car 6 months before the time is up, but only if I was going to buy/lease another car.

I wish I could give you my miles as I am ALWAYS under. I have leased 2 cars and both are way under the mileage. I will be turning in my lease in a couple of months.

I got my lease for 15k and for a while I was WAY over - but I'm just evening out now - probably next month I will be at the correct mileage or below.
I will definitely choose the 15k option again for the next one.

My parents just turned in their car (12k/yr) with 19k on it
