Re: My least favorite thing to hear....
I've heard that a lot over the last 2 years of TTC. At this point we don't believe it will happen, so we are fully relaxed. I used to tell people, we're having sex, how much more relaxed could we be?

Re: My least favorite thing to hear....
please, i heard that so often it made me want to beat the people up who said it to me. especially since pretty much every day in my job i come across women who are on drugs and who have multiple children. if that's not a stressed out body (that was able to conceive!), i don't know what is!
this past month i got a BFP, and it was by far the worst month of ttc EVER. dh got really sick, then i got really sick, then we both took our medical licensing exam - two days, 8 hours each, of testing. all of this happened at the same time, and it ALL coincided with my ovulation. we couldn't have been more stressed, and that was the month we conceived. i am convinced that stress has NOTHING to do with it.

Re: My least favorite thing to hear....
okay, i should be working, but instead i'm on LIF and for some reason still stewing about this
so many things irk me about people saying "relax". first of all, it implies that if you were doing something differently you could conceive. it's implying that in some way it's your fault that you're not conceiving...
ithere are dozens of women on this board, the infertility board, and the pregnancy board who are trying or who tried for months or years to get pregnant. to say that they should "relax" is so unbelievably insulting. it drives me NUTS

Re: My least favorite thing to hear....
Alexlynn - I totally agree with you. There are tons of couples going through infertility on some level or another. I've been to a fertility clinic where there would be so many people there, people would be standing everywhere including on all the steps leading to the main level. I would look around and not once did I think, wow, they should just relax and they'd get pregnant. I think people just don't know what to say. Becoming pregnant and having a child is TRULY TRULY TRULY a miracle. I had no idea how much went into getting pregnant and I believe that the ones that have no problem will never understand what a true gift they've been given - meaning to just have sex and get pregnant - no need to do all the extras that some of us need to do to achieve the same result. I am in awe of womens bodies when they are pregnant. And for someone to say to relax makes me crazy, too. But people always blame the woman if something is wrong anyway. Grrrrrrrr!!!!

well...you'd be shocked at how stressed you can actually be! i've said it, i still say it...but only to women who seem really worked up and truly stressing over it....i only say it because after my parents threw their hands up and stopped temping and charting, they were PG within a couple months with my little sister after 2 years of trying hard core. from my own experience, AF is absolutely affected by stress for me as well...so it goes a long way. depending on the context and what else they say, many people are offering up heartfelt advice when they say it...because so many times, it is what worked for couples.
to you all.
eta: i think you have to be pretty brave to let your friends and family know of your TTC efforts and let them watch the time pass before you do conceive. I applaud you all for your patience and really hope that you all get a BFP soon. But don't STRESS what other people say either...some people will tell you that you can only get pregnant during a full moon. yes, i've heard that.
