My milk supply is decreasing-Help!
All of a sudden I can tell that I am not producing as much milk. DD is 5 weeks old and the past two days I have only been able to pump 1.5 ounces from BOTH breasts as opposed to 4-5 ounces from each at night. I also feel a lot less full. What is going on, and what should I do so that I don't loose my supply? She was doing so well exclusively BF ing and I don't want to have to go to formula.

Drink a lot of water and try to get some rest. Call a lactation consultant if you don't see better supply soon.
Good luck!!

Re: My milk supply is decreasing-Help!
Do you find that you are feeding the baby more often? Or maybe the DD is just taking in more milk than she had been, leaving you with emptier breasts.
If you feel you need to increase your supply, pump after feedings to give your body the message that it needs to produce more milk. Even if you pump nothing, you'll trick your body into thinking that DD is suckling and getting nothing. Sometimes i used to pump for 10 minutes after a feeding just for the stimulation. Also increase your liquid intake. You should be drinking tons of water...10+ glasses.
If you need more help, contact La Leche League. They will answer any questions that you have.
Good luck! I'm sure everything will work out fine!
