My mom needs a kidney donor

I never really post personal information about myself or my family, but this is a time where my family needs your help.

My mom contracted a virus in 2009 that severly dehydrated her and caused renal failure. She has been excellent with her dialysis and approved to be put on the kidney donor list. If you or someone you know is A+ and willing to donate, all info is posted in the letter below.

My sister and I are not able to donate do to family history and my father is not a match.

If you would please spread the word, it would be greatly appreciated.

Dear Family, Friends and Future Friends,

Due to a recent illness, my kidneys are no longer functioning and I am in desperate need of a kidney donor. If you are A positive, you are already a potential candidate. All medical testing and medical costs will be paid for by my insurance.

If you are not an A positive blood type, you can still donate a kidney which will help move me up the waiting list through the organization United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS). UNOS is the private, non-profit organization that manages the nation's organ transplant system under contract with the federal government. http://www.unos.org/

If you are a potential donor for me, kindly call my Transplant Coordinator Nicky at the RMTI Kidney/Pancreas Transplant Program at Mount Sinai Medical Center at 212-659-8024 to ask questions and/or schedule a meeting. At this meeting, she will review the donor process, conduct an initial health screening and order lab work to determine blood type and compatibility.

I am so sorry to hear this.

My dad got a heart transplant 20 years ago and then a few years after that, his kidneys went bad due the the medication. Neither my sister or I or my mom were matches.

he did diaylsis for a year and by the grace of God, he got a kidney.

I will keep your mom in my thoughts that she will find a donor.
