My mother is freaking driving me crazy
Thanks everyone. I definately think it is a bit of both. It will be difficult to broach this topic with her, but it has to be done.

Re: My mother is freaking driving me crazy
Honestly, it sounds like she is suffering from depression. The exhaustion and lack of interest in activities and the home are signs. I would try talking to her about seeking some guidance or therapy.

She does sound depressed. Maybe a trip to the doc?

Those are all classic signs of depression. You should encourage her to talk to her doctor.

Re: My mother is freaking driving me crazy
I hope this isn't the case, but she may be going through a bout of depression. I think it's best to speak to her personally to see what is driving her tiresome behavior. I don't think it's laziness unfortunately.

Is she depressed?
That is what I was thinking.
Maybe try and plan a spa day with her or something and make her go

Re: My mother is freaking driving me crazy
In addition to the possible depression, she may also be suffering from a thyroid problem.
My mom didn't get diagnosed until a few years ago, AFTER me.
Also, she was probably running around like crazy with your wedding and all, and is probably feeling a little "un-needed" now that you are married. Not to make you feel guilty at all though Nancy, it just happens.
I know when my mom retired, she went through a little "I don't know what to do with myself" period and got a little depressed about it. She rarely goes anywhere without my dad as her chauffer, but tired she is not. She has more freakin ebergy than me.
Can you have a one on one with her?
Or maybe pop aout a grandbaby for her to keep her occupied?

Re: My mother is freaking driving me crazy
But if she is soo depressed why would she be going to Palm Beach?
Maybe she feels like she is not getting any attention and feels this is the only way?

Re: My mother is freaking driving me crazy
sounds to me like she's depressed, perhaps she needs to seek medical attention.
