My never ending search for a new RE

I'm sure many of you know my story but yet again I have to find a new RE. I need someone who has dealt with recurrent pregnancy loss and has a schedule that I can come early in the morning around 7:00AM or after 5. I also need a Dr who will call you back the same or next day when you leave a message. I need nurses who are pleasant and willing to work with me with faxing results, etc. This doesn't seem like much to ask does it? Help!!

Me too! Me too!

And someone's office where they have the lab right there and IVFs are easy to schedule!

Yes! I actually like Dr. L. He is very smart but he is not too experimental and kind of poo poohed my research-which was ALL scientific and mostly American! Their schedule is ridiculous. I said that to the nurse-How do you work with people who need IVF?!

Re: My never ending search for a new RE

Unfortunatly I found no clinic able to work with my schedule at all....

NSUH where I went was good for IVF..their IVF appointments are usually 7:00am....But the other stuff is when the schedule permits.

IF is a hard thing to do and work. Its why I had to go to part time. I couldnt do both with the job I had.

Re: My never ending search for a new RE

I think you are going to have a very hard time finding an RE to accomodate your schedule

I go to Cornell and morning monitoring hours are from 7am to 9am

You can get there before 7 and get out by 7:30, or by 10...you never know

My last job worked with me as they knew what I was going through, but my new job does not, so next cycle should be interesting...

Melijane -

not sure if you qualify for FMLA, but it would apply in this case. FMLA can be taken in intermittent leaves for health conditions (from one hour to a week). (Section Number: 825.203 FMLA Law pertaining to Intermittent Leave

If you need more info on it, FM me.

I'm cycling at RMA of New York in Garden City right now...they just opened up the office so it's almost always empty and I'm in and out. My RE Dr. Flisser is great about getting back to me the same day though sometimes he goes on and on forever about answering my questions (I think he's a bit of a nerd! very helpful though and can't complain) Their monitoring doesn't start till 8am though. My OB is strictly doing Infertility right now.

It is Dr. braverman in garden City. I always liked him and am sad he won't be delivering my baby this go round.

he was one of my rejects. Not because of him but his nurse would never get on the phone with me, screwed up my prescriptions, etc.

I went to RMA of NY in Manhattan. Dr. Copperman was my doctor and he was great, he gave you his email address and got back to you within minutes or receiving your email. The nurses there were also great and very friendly, never were quick with me or unfriendly. All the doctors in the practice there are great. Also if you go there you can go for bw/us at the Garden City location.

Re: My never ending search for a new RE

I've heard great things about RMA but I go to Columbia. I see Dr. Tortoriello and he is great. Answers my emails within an hour, the nurses are friendly but I think the earliest appt. they do is 7 am. Good Luck!

Re: My never ending search for a new RE

I am using LIIVF and their Melville office opens at 7:30 a.m. so I go there for convenience reasons.
Sorry you are having so much trouble, but as other posters said: it's really hard to work and do IF treatment. Is there anyway you can talk to your employer and see if it's okay for you to come in late a few days out of the month. It usually only ends up being four or five days that you have to go in the morning for monitoring.

I would highly recommend Gold Coast Fertility and Dr. Palter. That is who we are using and they have been very accomodating with our schedules and sooo very nice.

Re: My never ending search for a new RE

I can recommend my dr to you, but his office is in Brooklyn and while it's only 10 miles from me, it may be too far for you.

They open @ 7am-

Let me know and I will give you the infoChat Icon

Thanks Skygirl but a bit too far. Although I think I may check out NSUH as it seems to be "the standard" or maybe I'll just quit my job and go to the city!

Re: My never ending search for a new RE

i'm a big fan of dr. brenner at li-ivf in lake success. the nurses were always thorough and sweet with me and always answered my questions. even the "after hours" nurses, were patient when i called in a panic at 10pm.

they open at 7:00 am for ivf monitoring. i live and work in queens, so even though it was a pain driving to li in the morning then back to work, i usually made it to work, between 8 and 8:30 if i got there right at 7:00.

i did everything at the lake success office, except the retrieval and transfers-they were at mather hospital in port jeff-kinda far, but worth the trip!!!

good luck with your search. Chat Icon Chat Icon

100% agree. Any of the doctors there are great. I saw Dr. Ruman and couldn't have been more pleased with her.

I left that office - I am not TTCing but just did not like him or his staff much. Karen the NP was great, but I pay to see a doctor not a NP.

Re: My never ending search for a new RE

I've also been going to RMA of NY in Manhattan. Dr. Copperman is such a nice guy and was very upfront with steps he thought I should take but was willing to listen to my thoughts on it as well.

It's a haul (I live in Medford) but for the early a.m. monitoring hours, I'm usually in by 7:10 and out by 7:45.
