My new summer pet peeve
I just got back from having a mani and pedi. this older woman (probably around 65-70) comes in with the longest and fugliest toe nails I have ever seen   I kid you not when I tell you that they must have been at least 1" in length - that's 1" from the end of the toe!
I feel so bad for the women who work at these salons sometimes

How the he11 can she wear shoes with nails that long??!?! Wouldn't they make her go up a shoe size?  GROSS

I know it was probably really gross, and I hate feet.. but maybe the poor 70 year old woman has a problem bending down to reach her toe nails to cut them.. hence she was going for a pedicure.... Maybe she can't afford to get one every 2 weeks like some of us, so her nails grew extra long...
I'm not trying to be rude, I just have a sensitive spot for "older" people.

she was wearing flip flops, the only shoes that would probably fit!

I agree. I used to work for a podiatrist and the majority of the patients were elderly people who came in simply to get their toenails clipped because they could not do it.

You're right. Since my mom is an active 78 year old, I didn't even think of the woman having a medical problem.

So not right on so many levels. My SIL get tips put on her toes. Looks white trashy to me, and she is a higher up at a university. She is very classy except for the fake toenails.

You're right. Since my mom is an active 78 year old, I didn't even think of the woman having a medical problem.
my mom is disabled and sometimes she doesn't go to get a pedicure often. Her nails get very long and then we beg her to go. She can't reach down and cut them and she doesn't want my dad to cut them for her.

a while back I saw a woman with a cracked toe nail get a silk wrap on that one. I guess I can understand doing it that way. but NOT on all of them

She thinks it looks good. I asked her why, and she replies, it is better that paying for a pedi. Yeah but a pedi looks better. Whatever. I am like my mother and grandmother I guess, pedis all the time, it is just how I was brought up. I must have been an infant getting pedicures, because I never remember a time where my toes looked awful.
