My poor baby is sooo sick!! Any tricks to get her to drink..anything?
She has had fever since Monday. Tuesday night it spiked to 103.7. We went to the doc on Wednesday and she saw no blisters, just a very red throat, thought maybe strep. Well turns out it is not strep and she woke up today with a 103.9 fever. And whe I went in to get her she was sitting up in her crib, shaking uncontrollably. Scared the cr@p out of me. We brought her back into the doc today and luckily, just before we left her fever broke..we are keeping our fingers crossed it satys down. But being she's going on a week of this they said it is not coxsakie (no blisters) and not roseola(no rashes). They put her on an antibiotic and are treating it as strep because the back of her throat it BRIGHT red. She is getting tylenol or motrin every three hours. And little bit of Mylanta to try and help soothe her throat. She is happy now, playing, seem to be feeling better. Our only problem now is...She won't drink her bottles. We have been trying to get a few oubces in her every two hours which was working, but she's not even taking that anymore. She has had a total of 14 ounces all day. Forget about solids, they are out. She won't drink and juice, water or pedialyte. I bought the pedialyte frozen pops and she will suck on them pretty good for a bit, but its definitely not enough. Any ideas on how to get something into her? Doctor mentioned an eye dropper if need be, but she is sorta traumatized with all the droppers with all different meds every few hours that I really don't want to force anything else down her. Any tricks anyone has to get her to drink something?? Sorry this is so long!!

Has she had yogurt yet? If so, you can try the Stonyfield Farm Smoothies...my son LOVES LOVES LOVES these. Maybe they will help to soothe her throat. I hope she feels better soon!

When Lucas had the stomach virus back in January he refused his bottles (can't blame him after all that throwing up - yuck). Through trial and error (and lots of wasted money) I learned that he liked the unflavored pedialyte best and even then he didn't drink. So I left it out on the floor with his toys and eventually he started drinking on his own...very quickly then started drinking again while I held him and before we knew it he was draining bottles of it.
