My PSA for today (If you ever go shopping w/your DC)
My wallet was stolen in the mall today (I live upstate) and it was found in the mens room garbage. I don't carry much cash, but it was gone, but everything else was there!
When I picked it up at the police station, he said I was lucky and that 99% of the time, people he deals with don't get their stuff back and they're almost always w/their children...focused on their children making them easier targets.
Just an FYI to guard your stuff because apparently thieves see us parents as easier targets

I'm so sorry this happened to you...I so see us being easy targets...I'm normally very organized but going out with DD it goes all out the window when she's grabbing everything out of the cart and throwing them, my head and eyes are in 8 million different places!!

My friend was pickpocketed in Commack's Target a few years ago. They also said to be aware of people WITH children because they often use them to distract customers.
The kid throws a tantrum & people are so busy watching, they're not minding their purses.

I'm so sorry this happened.
I just want to warn you though that if you did have credit cards in your wallet at the time your wallet was stolen, watch them very carefully or get new cards. I worked in a police station for 4 years and you wouldn't believe how many times people came in to tell us that nobody stole the cards, but were "using" the card number online. They tend to just write the cc # down, so you don't cancel the card.

so sorry this happened to you
its good to always be safe and this PSA is definitely needed for the holiday season.
I have stopped taking my purse anywhere. I put my cell phone in her diaper bag, my id and bank card in my front pocket and that's it. I'm hands free otherwise.
im so afraid of my own stupidity with my purse that i just stopped trusting myself with it during this time of the year.
I used to just leave it in the car cause that's 'safe'.. then my hubby's car once got stolen and he kept telling me that if i left stuff in my car then really how safe *is* it? But I grew up with aunts who used to 'lock' their purse in the trunk. *sigh* times are definitely different.

So sorry that happened. This kind of thing is always on my mind. I know I can be so much more cautious than I am... I'm always thinking when I'm putting DS in the car that someone could come clobber me while my back is turned! And I frequently leave my pocketbook in the shopping cart while I'm getting him in.
I'm glad they only wanted your money and did not take anything else.

Re: My PSA for today (If you ever go shopping w/your DC)
ughhh sorry that happened to you!
I am so bad with the stroller...it just sits anywhere in the store while we walk away.
If someone took my diaper bag, i would have no money, no way home, no phone. I have to get better with it.
