Re: My silly question of the day
Cut them in half lengthwise. I know it sounds ridiculous but I picture their little throat being the size of a grape.
I used to peel them which is just insane.

Well that is why I was asking. Actually I was going to do quarters since it will be her first time, but I wasn't sure about the skin.

Re: My silly question of the day
I don't want to scare you. But one of my friend's co-worker had a 2 year old who died from choking on a grape. Do cut it up for her. I am a worry freak about kids choking so I would cut it up into pieces and not just in half.

Re: My silly question of the day
I don't know if we have to peel the skin, but I tried it once and it is too much of a PIMA! I actually gave up on grapes for that reason.

Re: My silly question of the day
I would peel them and cut them in quarters for now until she gets a bit older and can chew them better.
I think of DD's throat as an empty TP roll, anything that fits down that tube is a choking hazard. It just creates a visual for you with everything.

Re: My silly question of the day
I just read in one of my books to cut them up length wise.

It's stuff like this that freaks me out. I still can't get over the toddler that choked (and died) on popcorn in the movie theatre.

Oh I know. It's all these horror stories like these that make me a nervous freak about them choking. I will always worry about it.
That's why I won't give my son teething biscuits. Call me crazy but I will not give it to him just yet. My in laws think i'm nuts but i'm not doing it. I give the cheerios and gerber puffs and always monitor him when he eats those. I have given him the end of a loaf of bread just to knaw on because of his teething but he's on my lap when I do this and as soon as the bread gets mushy I take it away. My son does gag on stuff when it's too much so I have to be on the lookout.
