My Sister had her baby yesterday, I have a question for girls who have/will deliver at Winthrop
Yesterday had to be the most surreal day ever. My sister who is Due June 19, started to feel pain in the morning, she waiting to go to her 2:00pm dr. appt, for her weekly internal exam.
When she got there, she was 4cm and havign contractions 4-6 minutes apart.
My sister who is always prepared, didnt have anything packed, so they told her to go home, pack her bag, and then come back.
She got to winthrop around 5:15-5:30pm and by 7pm 8cm dialated. We all got to the hospital at 7:30pm and the baby was born at 8:02 pm,
It is my sisters first baby she is 24, and it went super quick, she said it hurt really bad, and she is never doing it again.
My question is, they say grandparents only from 2-4pm for vistors, but do you think they will let me in? After her birth, they let 9 of us in, most of who are friends into the labor and delivery room with the baby.
DO you think i can just show up at 2pm to see my sister? SHe named the baby Isabella

Re: My Sister had her baby yesterday, I have a question for girls who have/will deliver at Winthrop
My friend just dleivered at Winthrop and she said that there were tons of ppl there during grandparent hours other than grandparents. Also, during visiting hours it was suppose dto be 4 ppl max but there were 10 of us in her room at once...Don't know if they are always this lenient but that is how it was for us. Congrtas on being an Aunt!

I had my DD at Winthrop and had my sisters there during grandparents time from 2-4pm. If you are quiet in the room and dont disturb anyone they leave you all alone.

You can try and see if you can go with one of the grandparents because you do need to be buzied in. My SIL did come to see me durning the day and they didnt say anything to her and nurses did come in the room to see me while she was their. The worst case scenio is that they say no and you have to come back

Congrtas on being an Aunt! I had the same experience there last week. As long as you don't stop & ask for directions they will not give you a hard time.
Congrats!

That's exactly why I want a private room!!! It's great to break the "rules" unless you are the roomate who cannot rest.
To the OP... Congrats!!!!!

I know what the rules say, but they will probably let you in. I know they let my cousin in to see her friend a couple of months ago. As long as there aren't a ton of people in the room (including the roommate) it should be fine.

Also, if you walk in with a grandmother, just tell them that you drove if they give you a hard time
