my small update....time to move on
So yesterday DH and I went in to have another consult with Dr. B to discuss our options. I didnt respond as well to the letrizole so we skipped doing an IUI this month. I havent done IUI with injectibles yet and Dr. B said we could try that if we wanted....his only concern is my left ovary b/c its placed high and he says it *might* be an issue should I ovulate from that side....but he couldn't know for sure unless he went in laproscopically to look. But he also said minor surgery comes with its own risks....scar tissue etc. Again he kept stressing that he doesnt know for sure that the placement of the left ovary is an issue and still the right ovary looks great so we could shoot for stimulating from that side. We then started talking about IVF . I know and DH knows this would be our best bet but still the thought scares me. So after a nice chat about the pro's and cons....DH and I decided that our next cycle will be IVF. I suppose its just time after 6 IUI's and 2 miscarriages. I just hate that within myself I keep going back and forth being comfortable with the idea.....hope that makes sense. One minute I'm happy and optimistic and the next minute I'm confused. I'm just so scared of failing. So thats where I'm at.

Lisa, I read your post and it does make sense to me.. The whole time we have been speaking on the board and off I have said to myself "why wont she just go for IVF"??? It baffled me. But I would never push anyone, I only try to support.. NOW I understand.. Its almst like you think you are using your trump card.. You think this is it.. If this doesnt work then thats it.. The thought of that is beyond reason..
SOOO.... I am here to tell you that its not the end of the journey.. I survived 2 failed IVF"S and 11 iui's .. With no infertility coverage what so ever.. No meds no nothing.. My husband is a struggling actor looking for work all the time.. Small jobs here and there.. Dr B worked with me and ALL of my med have been donated to me.. on the board and even off the board.. I cant say how hard this was but the money came.. And it was my gifts from God..
You have to just do this one IVF at a time.. Thank GOD you are both young and you have time to do this.. You can spread this out for a little bit.. If GOD-FOR-BID the first one does fail.. I will pray your prayers as you prayed mine. And always remember when 2 or more gather in HIS name HE is there in the Midst..This is FAR FAR FAR from near being over.. I love you girl!! XXOO

And boy did you hit the nail on the head....that is EXACTLY how i feel -like I'd be using my trump card. Like if this fails its all over and I'm just not ready for that. But I HAVE to believe that it will happen. "Faith is about taking the first step without seeing the whole staircase" Dr. ML King said that and its one of my favorite phrases....time to start applying it.

Lisa, I feel in my heart of hearts, IVF will be a winner for you  You have us all to bounce all your questions and concerns off of and I even have some books that have your name on it, if you should want them !!!!!!

Lisa, I, too, know where you're coming from. While I was excited to move onto IVF after 6 failed IUIs, at the same time I feared that this might just be one more thing that didn't work. IVF is considered to be the final frontier in the realm of big things to try. You can't play the what-if game... You just have to go for it, knowing that you need to move forward.
You ARE ready to move on and we will all get you through this. We are here to support you the way you have supported the rest of us time and time again.
Try to think of it as getting one step closer to your dream. While the first step is a scary one, I can tell you firsthand it is the best thing I ever did.
I wish you the best of luck and plenty of prayers!

I couldn't have said it better myself.
For me, it was one thing to have failed IUI's, but IVF was a whole 'nother ballgame for me, I saw it as the end of the road, and put SO much pressure and stress on myself that it HAD to work. It's all so emotionally challenging, but WE have the perseverance(sp?) and strength to go forward. You jump one hurtle at a time and take it day by day. I never thought in a million years I would do IVF. I told my husband when we first started the journey with the IUI's that if that didn't work, we needed to think long and hard about adoption or other avenues because IVF would NEVER be an option for me. However, when faced with the notion that it was either IVF or nothing, the choice was pretty easy.

I completely understand this part. It's hard to switch to the IVF thought. It's been a week since we've made our decision to do IVF and it definitely gets easier. Last week it was 60% doubtful 40% sure, this week it's probably 80% sure and 20% doubtful. Just give yourself the time to think through it all- it consumed my week! It will help you to gather your emotions and get you ready for the journey ahead.
So happy you made this decision, you are getting closer to your dream.

oh Lisa.. i am right there with you! we were doing the same thing at our consult too . and we opted for IVF as you know. i feel like its just the right thing to do.. the IUI's were just not working.. and we get to that point where, enough is enough!! so that just tells us right there that we are ready! it is scary, but we can do it !! and together!
you know i will be rooting for you all the way!!

Lisa, you know I'm here for you all the way...and will answer any questions and be your total support system. I know its tough, I NEVER EVER thought I'd have to go through IVF. I did a whole mess of IUIs (I think 11 or 12) and did 3 IVF cycles. I had 7 or 8 chemical pregnancies and 2 miscarriages where I had to do D&Cs. I know where you're coming from...this journey is hard and awful, but you'll be fine. IVF is a great step for you...you will be fine. I promise.
