My story

Hi all

Some of you might remember me from LIW (i was groovpeg over there).

Dh and I got pregnant in may. After seeing the heartbeat at 6 weeks, we found out we were miscarrying around 10 weeks. I had a dnc in july and I have yet to get AF. I have taken 3 HPTs and all are BFNs. I am so depressed. I need AF to get here so we can start trying again!! I called my doctor and he said he can give me something to bring it on, but did not say what med it is. Has anyone taken something like this? I have been lurking on here and reading everyones post but i want to be more active.Chat Icon

Re: My story

They will give you provera to bring on AF. Provera is a form of progesterone. Progesterone works in different ways, it either prolongs luteal phases or it can shorten them. Unfortunately the D&C, can alter your cycles. Provera will be given to you, and a few days after it's use, Af will come and you will start over. The doctor can also measure your follicule size to see what's going on. You actually aren't that 'late' for AF...since you had your d&c in july.

Your doctor is probably referring to a medication called Provera. That helps bring on a period.

I'm so sorry for your loss; I can't even imagine what you are going through. There are so many women here that are so supportive and so willing to share their experiences and knowledge, that you may be able to take some comfort in that. Wishing you lots of luck.

Re: My story

Hi there --- welcome, may you get the heck outta here soon. Chat Icon

I had a D&C in April - April 28 to be exact (mom's b-day). I was 8 weeks along at the time.

I am now 39 (Chat Icon ) - and was in a rush, hoping to get pg again while I was 38. I started getting my period again very lightly in July, so it was 3 months. 3 or 4 months is normal. My Dr. also mentioned giving me a hormone to move things along, but I am glad I waitied, I don't need any extra chemicals in my body.

We TTCd in July, but AF showed up a tthe end of the month. Now I am waiitng to O so we can try again. My periods are back to normal - same heaviness, same length.

My suggestions is to give it until October (I know, it's hard!! But the girls on here will send you AF cha-cha vibes to help you along).

Re: My story

I just wanted to wish you much luck. I'm so sorry about your loss. You came to the right place for support and information though!

It took my friend about 3 months to get AF back after her D&C. But if your dr. wants to start you on the meds to bring on AF and s/he thinks that is safe, then go for it.

The good news is that you ARE able to get PG. So now all you have to do is do it again and make it stick Chat Icon

Re: My story

Hi skinner, aka groovypeg. I remember you as well. So sorry about your loss. I know EXACTLY how you feel. We had a m/c in February and I had a D&C as well. Unfortunately, at 6 weeks we never heard a heartbeat. It took almost 3 cycles to get AF back, (long cycles at that) and the dr. told me to wait for 2. Once I was able to actually calculate AF we started trying again. Glad to see that you aren't lurking anymore and have joined us "in person." Everyone here is very supportive and is quite informative. Especially redstar. So welcome and as karacg said hope you will get out soon!!!!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

So sorry for your loss Chat Icon

I had to take that medicine years ago when i lost my period (i was an avid runner and had lost it for months). Let me tell you it took all of about 4 hours for AF to come along and with it all the months of stuff that i did not get my period (Sorry if TMI). It took me two weeks for my period to subside but the DR told me this was normal but after that i was back to normal and I began eating more for the amount i ran and my period stayed.

Good luck - i am sure this will get you back to normal.
