My Story
Hello everyone.. I have been a lurker on in this room for quite some time but didn't get the nerve to post until today.
Today is the 1 yr anniv of my DNE. I found out at 13 weeks that my baby had a fatal birth defect. It was so rare that my dr at the time couldn't even diagnose it and sent me to a MFM thinking that maybe my baby had downs or something. It wasn't until a grueling 24 hours later that I found out how incredibly wrong my baby was developing. The dr's described it as being struck by lightning. My world was shattered.
Since then, I had a chemical pregnancy, and then, this past Feb I got pregnant again - only to have a miscarriage & DNC at 5 weeks.
Each time, there was no reason for the loss. Chromosomes were all normal - Genetics all normal. I've lost a baby girl and a baby boy in 1 year.
Since then my dr's have run every test possible. Nothing wrong. Everything negative. I've seen an RE who confirmed that there is nothing wrong with me and that I am just having bad luck. I've seen other MFM and everyone says the same. That it's been a tough year and to keep the faith.
I've been trying to stay positive -but losing 2 babies - 2 dreams, in 1 year has shaken me a bit - especially today.
Has anyone else been in this place before?

Re: My Story
I've been in a similar situation. I got pregnant over 2yrs ago with a boy and we found out at my 16wk appt that he was not going to make it. At 17wk3d, we lost him and I had a D&E.... I then went on to have other pregnancies (a chemical, triplets from my first IVF, and a single from an FET).. Long story short, we are pursuing gestational surrogacy and will be transferring with our carrier soon.
If you are not happy with the RE you are with and getting the answers you deserve, maybe it's time for another opinion. Dr.Braverman specializes in multiple losses.
Good luck

Re: My Story
Im so sorry you are going through this. I had a m/c at 8 weeks and then a chemical pg, followed (the next cycle) by a blighted ovum, which ended with a d&c at 10 weeks. I had miscarriage panels done and an HSG; the doctors found no reason for the losses and chalked it up to bad luck. I was so sad that something was wrong me and I would never have a normal pg. Thankfully, i am now 15 weeks pg and everything looks good so far & we are praying to have a healthy baby in December. Good luck to you, i know how difficult it is

Re: My Story
Yes. In one year I had 3 miscarriages, and the following year 3 chemical pregnancies. Throw in a total of 4D&Cs, a lap, a hysterscopy, 6 IVFs and more crap than I care to remember! I've been in your place. It's a terrible feeling. That feeling of uncertainty, unknowing, takes over your entire being. But after little breaks,I kept going. I found a Dr. willing to help me. I didn't believe that it was "bad luck" and I'm truly "lucky" that I didn't follow the advice of my 1st RE. Allow yourself to be sad, feel sorry and cry. You'll be able to heal from your past and accept it. But, dont' give up. It can happen. In fact, I'm still in shock it's happened for me. 1 year ago I was exactly in your shoes. I was going for an abdominal lap to investigate Endo. We had checked everything else off the list basically. My RE kept going with me. Find a Doctor who will work for you, give you your dream and do ALL of the appropriate testing. Take time for you. I'm happy that you posted and know that there are many women who've been in your shoes. Lots of and

Re: My Story
I'm so sorry you are dealing with all of this...
I've dealt with similar circumstances. My 1st pregnancy i had a MC at approx 10wks (D&C) and then right after had a 2nd MC around 7-8wks (D&C again). Then a few month later I got pregnant a 3rd time and had my first DS in 2010. All 3 of those were within a 1 yr period. We recently started trying and I got pregnant in April and had a natural MC. Then got pregnant again a few weeks later and now i'm almost 7wks and praying it sticks. It's a rough road but I had to think that all of those loses happened for a reason. It WILL happen for you...if you ever need to talk feel free to FM me
edit...i could never get an explanation for any of the loses, just "bad luck"

Re: My Story
yes, i can definitely relate as well. my first pregnancy in 2009, ended at 12 weeks after i found out the baby had a severe birth defect. after much deliberation, and opinions from several doctors, we went in for a d&c. it was devastating and heartbreaking. since then we've also had a string of "bad luck" including an ectopic pregnancy that resulted in the removal of my right tube, a chemical pregnancy, and 4 failed IUI's. we are just about to start our first (and hopefully only!) round of IVF.
have you seen a doctor that deals with immune issues? if not, and if you have out of network insurance coverage, i would highly recommend making an appointment with dr. braverman. it is not always genetics that leads to losses. in my case, dr. b didn't find a whole lot of immune or genetic issues but he did diagnose a thyroid problem and an insulin problem that could be harmful to a pregnancy.
i am so sorry for all you have been through if you ever want to talk, please feel free to FM me
