My tripadvisor review of Regent Palms/Turks and Caicos

My husband and I escaped to T&C for a 5 night/6 day stay at the Regent Palms. Given that this was just a quickie vacation and the whole trip including air was only $2800, our expectations were modest.

There is no doubt that the beaches at Turks and Caicos are amazing. The beach is wide and long; the sand is light brown and soft. The water is amazing! It was calm, warm and crystal clear. Everything else about the vacation was sort of a disappointment.

The Regent Palms has great decor. The large rooms are beautifully designed. However, the service is lacking. They do try with the free drink upon check-in and some other little touches, but frankly the employees need better training. For instance, the bedsheet had a brown stain. It looked like it had been washed, but still, I don't want to sleep on that! I called and the sheet was replaced.....but the new sheet had a giant rip in it!

The food at the hotel was also only mediocre. The free buffet breakfast was probably the worst breakfast I have had at a hotel. The breads and bagels were stale. The eggs were overly runny and the juice was from a can (not freshly squeezed). I LOVE hotel breakfast, but at the Palms we really barely ate anything. The pool food was basically what you would expect...overpriced, but edible.

The food on the island was overall kind of a disappointment. Dinners ran about $200 and were not up to the quality we are used to in the States. We ate at Anacoana (beautiful location, but terrible food) and Magnolia's (nice setting, but again overpriced average food). We had the fish tacos at Hemingways. They were ok. The only excellent meal we had was at Coco Bistro! Excellent service and amazing food!

We are glad we visited Turks and Palms. However, as discerning travelers who have stayed at some really amazing resorts, the Regent Palms is sort of a disappointment. It was worth the $2800 we spent for the hotel and airfare, but I would have definitely been upset if we spent much more. I think it is a good extra vacation, but I don't think it is a good place to visit if you are used to true luxury on vacation or if it is the one vacation you take each year.

Overall, the beach and water is fantastic! Everything else is a disappointment!

You took the words right out of my mouth!!! DH and I were at the Palms in July and felt the same way about the service at the hotel. And I agree with you about the breakfast..I was expecting much better service from this hotel.
