My ultrascreen appt on Friday the 20th / Is it too early for me?
I just thought of something my ultrascreen where they are going to measure the baby's spine, check for any abnormalities and prick my finger is scheduled for the 20th of April. I was told they do this 12/13 weeks pregnant.
Well I'll only be going into my 12th week that day. Should I call and let them know that? I think I may have been scheduled a week too early for it.
Please talk about when you had yours done and what it was like.

The ultrascreen u are talkign about is usually done at 20 weeks. Maybe u are going to have the genetic ultrascreen test. There is a difference b/t the two.
The genetic ultrascreen is done at 12 weeks.

I think they told me anywere from week 12 day 1 to 13 weeks 4 days...but I'd call them back just to be safe.

The ultrascreen is done at 12 weeks so that sounds right.

My doctor said anywhere from 11 weeks ? day to 13 weeks 4 days so I think you are okay. For this test, they take a small amount of blood from your arm and you have the sonogram to measure the nuchal fold (back of the baby's neck).

I had mine at 11 weeks and some days(can't remember)...all was fine, except at my next appt which was 13 weeks, they did have to do one additional test which they pricked my finger for(the same as they did at the frist one, but I guess that particular test, needed to be done closer to the 13 weeks). It is amazing to see how much the baby has grown. you will get great pics!!

She is talking about the correct ultrascreen. I was told to do it between 11-14 weeks. I even tried to schedule it for 14 weeks, 1 day and they said it would have been too late.
The sono done at 20 weeks or so is the anatomy scan and they check more than the spine and the folds of the neck, that is the one where you can find out the sex as well.

For the Ultrascreen to be accurate it is suppose to be down between 11 weeks & 1 day to 13 weeks & 6 days...so as long as you are falling in begtween that time frame you will be fine...Most doctors tell you to schedule at 12 weeks b/c that falls right in the middle and leaves for that margin of error if your dates are a little off...
