My visit to my RE..............
So we decided to go ahead and do IVF. He was reading my chart and wished he did this sooner.
I started the birth control pill today, and will be taking Lupron in a few weeks to start stimming.
I have to make an appointment with one of the nurses(IVF coordinator) so they can go over the whole protocol.
He feels very good about this and gives me about a 60-70% chance of this working.
He said they will inject some sperm inside the egg as well as outside to see if the problem is with fertilization.
Im feeling very good about this and hope it works.
DH was a little mad because he wished we started this sooner.
My dr. asked about how many embryos to transfer. Dh said to only take one this cycle.
Those of you that have gone this far, how many did you have transfered??

There are usually guidelines according to age. They usually transfer at least 2.
I have always transferred 4 (35-37)...

Diane - This is wonderfule news! 60-70% odds are great! I only had three fertilized eggs by the time of transfer so I transferred them all. I agrre with Lisa, I think they usually want to transfer at least 2.

He told me that 2 would be good for my age., but when DH heard that the chances incresed of twins with 2 he flipped out. I keep saying my dad is twin.

Just wanted to wish you a ton of luck on the IVF journey! we'll be thinking of ya every step of the way!!
I have never heard of them doing less then 2, but thats just people I know, and one did have twins..although she had 4 transferred.

Diane...I just wanted to wish you a lot of luck with this cycle. I hope this is it for you. And if it helps at all, my SIL just had three transferred and nothing. So, you and DH should probably weigh the risks and decide what to do. I personally would be happy with twins at this point.

No, not in the 2WW yet......I'm on the Pill and start the gonadotropin shots on Saturday.
This is our first IVF cycle. It would be nice if it works right away!

PS Just IMO, I would transfer more than 1 embie (from what I've read its common practice to transfer more than one).
