I didn't find the article all that offensive. (FWW, I have 3 little ones with another on the way.)
Congratulations!
As far as the article, I won't read it. I can't imagine my life without my girls and can't imagine making them feel unwanted.
Do I sense a bit of snark? (That's sarcasm on my end by the way.) Have I offended you by not being offended? LOL Or the fact that I stated whether I had children or not (as many other posters did in this thread)?
How can you even comment on anything without even reading the article???
I think bc you said you had one on the way....or, I am completely misinterpreting the tone of BOTH of your posts, in which case, ignore me.
Because I have one on the way?? For real? Again, I see people stating in this thread their status (whether CF, doing IVF, having twins, being a twin, having kids, etc.) so yes, I added my "FWIW." So why should I be called on that? Is everybody else some how entitled to an opinion and I'm not? Or am I supposed to automatically be offended and disturbed because I am expecting?
No, no, unless her "snark" is completely lost on me, I think she meant...
First, congratulations about having one on the way
Then she commented on the article. I think she quoted you bc you both mentioned having kids, you said you have little ones and weren't offended and she quoted you, as in, I have little ones as well but don't feel the same as you.
I think, or at least I took it, that the Congrats was a sincere aside.

My Wife Is Expecting Twins and I Am Not Happy About It
I think this says it all:
"We already have a son, and he's wonderful. But my wife and I each have a sibling, and we wanted him to share that experience"
Sounds to me like they wanted their son to have a sibling more than they wanted another child. I find it appalling...

DH and I both have siblings and would like our DS to grow up with siblings as well...but that's not the only reason. We want more children, we enjoy being parents are in absolute awe of our son. We think he is the coolest most amazing thing ever to enter our lives AND I see how loving my son is towards other babies and children at the park...always trying to hug them or hold their hand or play with them and I think what a wonderful sibling he would be. I think he was made to be a big brother.

Re: My Wife Is Expecting Twins and I Am Not Happy About It
I don't find the article offensive. I think he was just being completely honest and most likely exaggerating to add to the tone of the piece.
I have 2 babies very very close in age and when I got pregnant out of the blue with my second it was mixed emotions for sure. If it would have been twins and I would have had 3 under 13 months I am sure my DH would have been less than thrilled. That being said we are so in love with our 2nd little surprise regardless of the fears we had during those 9 months and having 2 babies at the same time is really no biggie!!! :)

I have an only, and I have always said that I would have another child if I wanted one- not solely to give her a sibling. If that's ONE reason, great. The ONLY reason, foolish. Then you end up writing articles like this one where everyone calls you an asshole.

This man is disgusting and irresponsible and immature. I truly wonder if they found out it was twin girls if they would feel the same way.

Does anyone else find it sad that the related article is about twins dying. Once I saw that I couldn't go on to read about a parent not wanting them once I saw there was someone else talking about losing a set.

That was the first thing I noticed when I opened the link.
As for the article, I really feel like it's written for shock value. Yes people have fears and moments of regret, etc. We all do, whether it's about having children or how much we ate for dinner. If he wanted to get those feelings out, there are ways to do it without sounding like a piece of shit.

My Wife Is Expecting Twins and I Am Not Happy About It
till your someone's shoes it is hard to understand
we went for one more and got twins too - I was in shock - adding one more seemed easy - I would wear the baby everywhere I took my older son - but with 2 that is not so easy - to me adding 2 seemed exponentially harder than adding one
but in the moment of having them - I can't imagine life any other way - at some point you just follow life and that is when you learn you can't plan everything and life is better for it
I remember my dh and I at times thinking like that dad - I would never shun him for his thoughts - he has not held his babies yet and seen two helpless faces looking up - it is different when they are born

My Wife Is Expecting Twins and I Am Not Happy About It
I can understand feeling shocked, scared and panicked. Maybe even a moment of feeling regret. I cannot, and will not ever understand anyone wishing a genetic abnormality on their child so they have an excuse to terminate. That made me extremely upset to read.

I'm with you. People keep trying to justify it by sharing their situation and feelings and comparing but there is just no comparison... THEY PUT BACK TWO on the first try! This was DELIBERATE whether they expected it to work or they expected both to stick or not...how do you put back two embryos without preparing for the likely possibility that you could quite possibly end up with twins?? This wasn't an oops, this wasn't a surprise pregnancy.
And listen, I've heard people who miscarried say they felt like it was meant to be bc it just wasn't the right time in their life. But to WISH for an abnormality to give you an excuse to terminate? What if there was a small chance for abnormality? or an abnormality that was totally livable...would they still have used that as an opportunity to terminate one child?

Obviously twins was a good possibilty... but I cant blame him for feeling shocked. I TTCed for a year for DS and I was still in shock when I got a BFP. Maybe shocked is a bad word... disbelief maybe? Either way... I think this guy is an ass for what he says. I can relate to initial feelings of fear but otherwise he sounds like an ungrateful jerk.

You go to a doctor to MAKE YOUR WIFE PREGNANT. You put in TWO embryos..
WTF did you think was going to happen, asshole???

This is really the biggest issue I have with this. This is what I cannot look past, or "understand". Like I said, bc of that DISGUSTING and ABHORRENT sentiment, I am totally going to stand in judgement of him and not feel an ounce of pity or understanding for him.

Re: My Wife Is Expecting Twins and I Am Not Happy About It
I can't accept that he wrote this out of his initial shock and worry as he said his wife is due in 4 months (and they know the babies genders). You've had plenty of time to get used to the idea of twins buddy. You knew it was a possibility. Get over yourself and start preparing for your two HEALTHY "bundles of joy".
Those poor babies.
I'm sickened to the point of not finishing my lunch.
