name help please!

Dh and I are expecting our fourth baby. If it's a boy, the top name choice is henry. Second choice is theo. Any thoughts on either of these?

If it's a girl, we are having a tough time agreeing. Hubby is all out of girl names he loves. (We have 3 girls.) We both like juliet, but really don't want her to be called julie. I also like clara. What do you think of these names? I suggested Clara juliet, but I think he prefers juliet as a first name. He likes brooke as a middle name. I'm not fully sold on brooke.

DD's middle name is Elise. Juliet Elise sounds pretty. Or Clara Elise.

Pick what you like and don't worry about nicknames. As long as you two call them by the name and correct adults. he/she will always correct people.

My mother was never a fan of nicknames. My brother Christian goes by his name. He doesn't answer to Chris. He is 28 now and never had an issue. Even in HS his friends all called him Christian.

I agree with this. My friend named her sons Thomas and Nicholas. They are much older now but NEVER were called or went by Nick or Tommy ever. The parents always used the full name and so everyone followed suit.
I love henry for a boy and Juliet for a girl. Great choices.

I love Elise as a middle name. But our last name starts with S. Do you think the s sound at the end of a middle name and beginning of last name sounds weird?

Unfortunately, I have had the opposite experience. My DS is Nicholas and I have always called him Nicholas. He introduces himself only as Nicholas. His entire kindergarten class calls him "Nicky", which grates on my very last nerve. There is another Nicholas in the class that goes by "Nicky", so the kids (and teacher) started saying "Nicky B" and "Nicky M". I addressed this with the teacher and she apologized and assured me she would encourage the children to call him only "Nicholas". It has been almost 5 months and it hasn't helped Chat Icon
I think he (DS) feels funny about correcting people about it, so he just goes along with it and they continue to do it.
As an aside, I dont mind "Nick" as a nick name for when he gets older (I anticipated this would be his preference anyway, so I didn't shy away from naming him Nicholas), but I just cannot stand "Nicky".
Just my two cents.

To the OP, I love Juliet but I would definitely keep the potential nickname in mind

I know several ppl (adults and children) named Juliet and none of them have Julie as a nn. Some ppl call a couple of them "jules" but most are called Juliet.

Clara and Juliet are both beautiful names!

I like the name Henry because it reminds me of Henry Huggins from the Ramona book series.

I think the name Juliet is beautiful

I don't focus on nicknames. People ask me all the time if we call DS something for short and I always tell them no. We use his full name. (He has a unique name). I always say that as he grows, perhaps he will grow into his own nickname.
Sometimes people call him by a shortened name and it grates on me. They get the look of death when they do it. But other than that, he is always called by his full name. I find that if the parents don't use a nickname, others probably won't either.
