Name issue... (mini vent too)
DH is a super comic book freak (I call him my little dork)... and we've been talking about names and he came up with
Logan Xavier
ETA: our last name is De Luca.
(I'm for Jack Thomas)
which I had no issue with (I actually like the name), until he told me why: Apparently Wolverine's name is "Logan" and "Professor Xavier" is one of his favorite characters...
Now, I am against the name simply because I don't want our family to pick up on my DH's dorkish tendencies - and this is a big one. To prove my point, Joe's cousin asked us if we were going to name the baby Logan if it was a boy - and preceded to laugh his @ss off... I'm afraid that if we do have a boy and we name him Logan Xavier he's going to get picked on by DH's family (they have a tendency to be real a-holes regardless of age)...
I haven't told DH that I don't like the name now because of this... do you think I should?
What would you do in this situation?

Re: Name issue... (mini vent too)
i personally love the name. and i don't think anyone other than DH's family and other comic book afficionados are going to know what the name means.
plus if DH's family is like that anyway, they will probably have a negative response no matter what name you choose

Re: Name issue... (mini vent too)
Honestly...I loved the x men movies so once you told me comic book I knew the reference...BUT....if you never said your husband was into comic books I would never have put two and two together. People name their kids for a lot of different reasons...I love the name Bella for a girl...and you know where I got it? Twilight! lol and people know that but whatever! I think its pretty...so if you like the name go for it! Whatever the reason behind it...hey it can be a funny story to tell your son when he gets older:)

I would nix the name and find something the two of you can agree on.

Hell, I'm considering Reid for a boy. Where did it come from? One of the 'suitors' on the Bachelorette
We all get our inspiration from somewhere

I actually think it is a great name...but i see where your coming from because of his comic obsession lol... You should both agree on a name for the longest time I wanted a girl name that my husband hated..dont know if we are having a girl yet but I comprimised and went with a name WE BOTH AGREE ON .... if you really feel strongly against the name tell him its a no go..

i love the name - our little boy is Logan too. I didn't even know that Logan was Wolverine's name until my brother said it. Doesn't matter to me!

Okay, Eileen, that's bad!
To the OP - Most people wouldn't know enough to associate Logan with Wolverine (except for me because I'm a Hugh Jackman FREAK! ). But if you're uncomfortable, maybe you can convince your DH to use either Logan or Xavier but not both? I think it's the combination that will get his family talking.
It could be worse, it could've been something a little less mainstream, like Magneto or something!

I know it!!
The best part is, I think it's the frontrunner right now
I'll have to think of some cool story to tell him when he's older as to where it came from, although I don't think boys ever care about that stuff.
An aside but I have a cousin Keri whose name came from the bottle of Keri lotion on my aunt's nightstand in the hopsital

I like the name, I just think maybe you should not tell people where it came from!

My sons name is Logan as well. I never knew it was from the Xmen either, since I never seen the movie. People have mentioned it to me.
I actually liked the name from 2 shows that I watch. Rory's boyfriend in college is named Logan on Gilmore Girls and there was a character on General Hospital named Logan, lol..
