Name Question
My ds1 is named Dominick. My dh and I were discussing names and I like the name Nicholas. Some have said to me they are too similar because the end of Dominick has Nick in it. We don't shorten my ds1 name we call him the full Dominick. What does everyone think? Ok to use or too similar?

I agree with the PPs. It is fine especially since you call your DS1 by his full name.

I think it's totally fine bc if you ever shorten Dominick it would be dom not nick and then Nicholas would be shortened to nick

I know a family with two boys, Dominic and Nicholas and I've never thought much of it, except I think they go nicely together.

I personally would not use them together.
It would annoy me saying some form of "Nick" all the time.

My brothers name is Dominick
But now that I think of it if you use his first name and you yell for both kids you will be going Dominick Nick so pretty much repeating yourself. You would have to say Dom and Nick for you to not constantly sound like a skipping record lol.

I think it's fine, I'd never have thought of them being similar if you didn't mention it & I still don't think they're too similar for siblings.

Those are the names of my 2 stepsons. Has never been an issue. If we shorten their names it's Dom and Nick but we usually use their full names
