Name some of the rude things people have done to you since becoming PG

This is kindof a spinoff from the post about someone having to give up their seat for a fellow pregnant woman because no one else would. Also inspired by an experience I had today. I'll start with my experience...

I was at the Trader Joes in Merrick today buying some things. It was around 5 PM so it was pretty crowded. All the registers had lines. Now, at this point in my pregnancy (I'm in my 26th week), there is no hiding that I am preggo. It's obvious at this point. So I'm waiting on line and there's one person ahead of me and a woman behind me. I am NEXT. The woman behind me is yapping on her cell phone saying she just got out of work, blah blah blah. It is clear that many of us have just gotten out of work, including myself, and no one wants to be there waiting in line. The woman approaches my cart and stares at the contents, which contains appox 15 items. She stares at me and then stares back at her cart, which has maybe 5 items. The register next to me opens and the cashier motions for me to come over. Again, I am next in line. The woman behind me makes a face and says, "excuse me but would you mind?" and points to the items in her cart, as if to say she has less than me so she is entitled to go first. I say, "Yes, I would mind. I was next in line and it is obvious I am pregnant and I have been standing on my feet all day too and have been waiting in line just like everyone else." So she gives me a nasty look. My cashier tell me to pay no mind to her, which I try not to, but please. Maybe I am sensitive to this because I have been pushed and shoved by people when I open the door for THEM. I don't expect people to bow down to me but I do expect a certain degree of common courtesy because I am preggo. I guess not around here. Oh well . Please share some of your stories...

Very true!

Not sure why she asked if I minded though when I was ahead of her to begin with. I just thought she was incredibly rude in general. If I wasn't preggo I probably wouldn't have reacted that way.

i think it's so great that you told her straight up. many people would not say anything and then stew over it all night. you are a strong mama!!

i am sick of the overall lack of courtesy people show others, preggo or not. i can't count the number of times i have held the door for someone to just walk in without taking the door from me or saying "thank you." oh i didn't know i was your friggin servent!!!

I've had quite a few stupid comments... I've already posted about the "Was it planned?" question when I told a bunch of people I was pregnant, which unless you are close to me, is none of your business!

My favorite is the one that happened to me recently--I finally told a neighbor (mind you, I am not very close with this person at all) who right in front of me started to count backwards in months, and said, "Wow, July huh, I thought your husband was away that month"

Oh, and the same person touched my belly without asking, and I was only 16 weeks, so there is not so much there yet.

I imagine this is only going to get worse!!!

Ii was on line at Schmidt farms for Halloween, the man behind me heard my daughter talking about how we are having twins.
He asked me if it was true...and said wow. you must be early...You know you are going to be a whale...

I just laughed...I figured its true...I dk why it didn't bother me..rude yes...but didn't bother me much. I just couldnt believe someone would say that!

Way before I was showing (as you guys have seen my pics - nothing was going on for a while) - I was waiting on line at lunch time at Wild by Nature.

There was one looong line that I was on, and another long line next to us - then a 3rd register finally opened up - and said, "I can take who's next"

The man behind me pointed to the register, indicating that we would go there and he would still let me go 1st, whcih I thought was nice.

a woman from the other line literally cut right in front of me, practically pushing me out of the way - I said "ummm - ok..."

She also said - "I'm sorry - is it ok?"

I said, "do what you have to do," and turned to the man behind me and said, "thank you anyway for letting me go before you,"

She then got huffy, and said if I wanted to go ahead, then go.

I said, "Yes - thank you, I do - I'm pregnant and I'm starving."

Like people were saying, even if I were not pregnant, it was still plain rude.

I've gotten the typical, "was it planned" and such comments and I generally just let them pass. The one that really bothered me yesterday was when my manager came over and said, "You're starting to see it now." I said, "Yeah, well it depends upon what I'm wearing." He replied, "No, you're getting bigger all over."

Wanted to add that someone at work this morining said, "Wow, your belly is getting really big - you're starting to look like Santa Claus!" The woman who said to me is really nice and I know she didn't mean it in a malicious way but Santa Claus? That's a new one! I laughed about it because I thought it was more funny than anything else. I guess it depends on who is making these commenst to you as well.

the only rude comment so far I have gotten was at a family birthday party my stepbrothers MIL made a rude comment- she overheard me saying that 8 months after this one we are trying again and she had the nerve to come over and say to me how old are you- I was like 35 and..... she just walked away.
