Name your favorite Melissa & Doug puzzle please...
I am just about done shopping for DD's first birthday but I have no puzzles! I know the M&D ones are great but I just wanted to see which ones you recommend.

Me NONE lol I always having to find and pick up all the pieces. How ever my son is addicted to these puzzles. His fave is probably the 0-9 number set or the Farm animals

The Farmhouse Maze - all the pieces are on a track, never come off - they can be moved around the track and they spin. I think it's age appropriate since my son likes to chew on everything and these don't come off, yet he can move them around.
I also like the big knobed handled puzzles - I just bought a farm one for my friends son.

Don't get the modes of transportation one that makes the noise of the car, truck, plane, etc. Once the piece is put onto the spot the puzzle makes the noise of what it is. However if you lose that piece, everytime you shut off the light in that room it makes the noise. UGH!

we have a few.... but right now our fav is this bear puzzle where you can "dress" the bear- it has different heads, shirts and pants so you can make different looks- and it comes in a little box to store the pieces.

YES! We have this one too and DD loves it! it is great - b/c the pieces don't come off but she has fun playing with it.
We also have Melissa & Doug blocks that she loves too.

We love the transportation ones that make noises. I think they are a little more challanging since they aren't indvidul pieces that just fit into one slot. They are an introduction to interlocking puzzles. Emily loves them and we don't have any problems with them making noises when they aren't supposed to.
Also there is a box kit that comes with shapes that is great. I think it comes with 12 diferent pictures and you use shape blocks to fill it in. We play with it a the library and it is on her birthday wish list.

This isnt a puzzle "technically" but my DS has a Melissa & Doug birthday cake that he looooooves ! Its pieces velco together to make a cake and it comes with velcro candles and velcro cake decorations etc...really cute  Image Attachment(s):
