Names vent
Is anyone else's DH being retarded about names? I have mentioned oh, about 30 names, and he doesn't like ANY of them. Guess what he wants to name our baby boy?? DUKE!!!! That sounds like a dogs name, and he won't let it go! I am about to lose my mind!!!

Re: Names vent
If the baby will have "his" last name, he already got his turn...now it's your turn and you get the first name.

Re: Names vent
Oh yeah, been there, done that. I made a list of about 20 each boy and girl names. Went over the list w/ DH, he said no to all but 2-3 each which he said "um, it's okay" Finally we agreed on a girl name, but couldn't on a boy name. Found out we were having a boy and the one name he kind of liked, he kept saying it and said he really liked it.
Hope he comes around and you can agree on a name! DH volunatrilly took the baby name book and went page by page to see what names jumped out at him.

Re: Names vent
YES. In the end, I pulled the "Who's pregnant and pushing this baby out?" card. He'll get over himself once the baby is here. I simply refuse to name our child anything I don't like or that is already someone else's name. Both of our family's would assume it was after them. There is no one I want to name my child after, why perpetuate a myth? And he hates great names and likes stupid ones.

LOL I tried pulling that card, and he said "nice try" and laughed.

DH has been pretty good about it, so I cannot complain.

Re: Names vent
Sounds like my husband. He rejected all of my names in the beginning (which were pretty traditional names like Kevin, Christopher, etc.) and suggested. . .
Dwight, Dorian and Vernon.
You will eventually find something you can agree on - hang in there!!!

Re: Names vent
Funny thing my first two choices were Matthew for a boy and Kaitlyn for a girl -of course DH was like oh I don't know - we wrote up lists of like 50 names for each gender. After weeks of indecision - guess what -DH says oh you know I think those are my top names too. It took ages and him suggesting names then later saying he doesn't like them.

Re: Names vent
It is very frustrating! Every boy name that I like DH has worked with someone with that name and the guy has always been an a-hole so he refuses to name his kid that. At least we somewhat agree on two names right now. Ugh!

haha...at a dinner with friends in December, his friends were all [of course ]suggesting their own names...my EX's name is one of his friends...the second that poor guy said his name, I shrieked "NOOOOOOOOOOO!" I felt bad and asked DH to explain it to him. He did and the guy wasn't hurt, he understood. their name is REALLY popular for a boy [though I haven't heard single mom using it lately!]. I still felt mean...but I had every reason to detest the name.

Yes!!
You already know DH has Oscar on the list.
Then he throws out names like Nicodemus and Napoleon that I *think* he's joking about.
And when I suggest Quinn or Connor he thinks they are too "unusual".

Re: Names vent
Me and DH agreed on a Girl's name but cannot agree on a boys name. Every name I say he does'nt like or it is just OK. If we are having a boy we will probably disagree on the name up until delivery

Re: Names vent
Right now I am DH and I have agreed wholeheartedly on our girl's name but we argue daily about the boy name and SO many people are telling me that I am carrying like a boy.
DH wants Alexander and while it is nice, it is LONG to go with his Polish last name. I want Vincent or Roman. He doesn't want Vincent because it will be Vinnie and that is "too Italian" (because my heritage doesn't matter????) and he thinks Roman is a shady name
Maybe we'll get lucky and it will be a girl
