Nanny interview help!
We are looking into a nanny for DD for next Sept. One of my mother's friends has been a nanny for a family for 13 years and she is available next Sept. We're getting together for an interview of sorts this weekend. From the BTDT Moms, what are some good questions to ask. I have a basic list...

Re: Nanny interview help!
BEsides the basics, I always like to ask about their own children: their ages, are they in school, what they do for a living if they are older. I find that a potential candidate's kids and what she says about them are a good indication of her skills as a caregiver.
Also, I ask what kind of education they have and if they ever were in any other line of work besides being a nanny. Interesting stuff can come up...
Also, do they have a cell phone (important)

Re: Nanny interview help!
Hi,
Here is a link to some great questions to ask a prospective nanny/caregiver:
http://parkslopeparents.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=100&Itemid=185
That site has alot of other info about hiring a caregiver, like salary, information for you to provide, etc....
I found my nanny on a neighborhood website where other parents post. I see a ton of post by parents who's family no longer needs their nanny, but are trying to help them find a new family. I live in Brooklyn, so I don't have a resource to suggest for Nassau, but ask around, I bet something excist like that in your hood.
Besides the recommendation, someone familiar with your area will know when story time is at the library, will know the parks in the area and may even know other kids for playdates.
HTH!
