This is very sad... but really, if you are not following the instructions correctly, how can you blame the manufacturer? Chat Icon It specifically says that it is only to be used on the floor.

Re: Nap Nanny Infant Recliner Recalled due to Baby Death

I just was going to post this. I saw it in the store and thought what a great product. Just like some other products, they aren't meant to be used in the crib but when your DC has reflux, it is very tempting to put them in with it I guess. I guess that's why they recalled it.

A lot of infant/child deaths from a baby product is caused by misuse of the product, not the product itself. My heart does go out to the family, but it isn't the manufacturers fault..Chat Icon Chat Icon

I do agree that it is not the manufacturers fault, BUT this thing is called the NAP NANNY It inherently implies your child can "nap" in it. Who has their child nap on the floor?Chat Icon

actually, I do. he naps on the floor upstate b/c we don't have a crib for him yet and he would leap right out of his cradle. it is safer for him on the floor.

the baby suffocated (sweet jesu Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon ) between the nap nanny AND the bumper. I think that is the real problem. it was used in a crib that also had bumpers.

one or the other. or neither. but not both. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

You use the bouncy on the floor and most babies nap in that. Its not like the baby is laying on the floor. If the product tells you not to do something, don't do it. These people learned the hard way. I feel really bad for them..

ITA!!! I have the Nap Nanny and do not feel like I'm making my DD sleep on the floor. It's as close to the ground as a bouncy seat and small swings. I just don't get why people do not follow the instructions....poor children :(

My friend RAVES about this product and highly recommends it. Said it was a lifesaver.

I was going to register for it, but w/ this recall who knows?? lol It stinks b/c someone used it incorrectly and now it's being recalled.

same reason that cough syrup is no longer recommended for children under 6 (because some parents gave their children too much of this medication)

This is am amazing product but it cannot be used anywhere except the floor. Its so sad that people keep ignoring the proper use of these type of things.

Re: Nap Nanny Infant Recliner Recalled due to Baby Death

This reminds me of the story of the Bumbo where the genius mom put their kid in the Bumbo on their dining room table and expected nothing to happen......

It's all about how you use a product. WHY ON EARTH would you put this thing in your child's crib?????????? I don't *think* the thought would ever cross my mind.....

very sad
