Napoleon is almost 8 months old
And the last 3 nights he has been running around the house at all hours of the night like a complete lunatic. My husband and I havent gotten more than 4 hours of sleep. He has never been like this- yes he would staw awake and play with his toys but now, he is coming into the bedroom making growling like noises. We get up thinking that he has to go outside but when we're out there he wants to play. We throw the ball around for like 10 min and then go back inside to try to go to sleep. I dont want to put him in his crate at night since he is in it when my husband and I are at work. Does anyone have any tips or words of advice to share? I said to my husband- maybe Napoleon knows Im pregnant and he's giving us practice for when the baby arrives

I would stop doing that. Dogs are creatures of habit and as long as you continue to come out of your bedroom to play with him he thinks this is okay. I would put all of his toys away when it is bedtime.
Good luck!

Re: Napoleon is almost 8 months old
We put all toys away and put a baby gate up in our doorway at bedtime. I definitely wouldn't give him what he wants when he's acting manic during sleepy time. That would look like encouragement to him.
Has there been any change in his diet? Different food, treats close to bedtime, that kind of thing? Bagged treats have a lot of protein in them and can give a dog something that resembles a sugar high. What about exercise at night, can you increase it to tire him out?
We give a banana or an apple at 9pm, one hour before bedtime. Sometimes he runs around crazy for the next half hour but then he's good for bedtime. We take him for walks at 6am, 12pm and 7pm too.

Maybe you could also start a new routine at night, he is still young enough. Sounds like you both work during the day and he probably has a lot of pent up energy from being in the crate all day.
Take him for a long walk in the evening after dinner or if you have a backyard throw the ball to him there to get that energy out (or perhaps your husband can if you are too far along in your pregnancy).
Hope this helps!

Re: Napoleon is almost 8 months old
Thanks ladies! My husband takes hom out for a nice long walk when he gets home (around 4pm) and then they play catch in the yard for about 15 min. They go back out to play catch again around 9p. I think i'll take his toys away at night. Nothing has changed in his diet and although we do give him treats- we dont over do it. Hopefully its just a phase- like I said- its just really been the last 3 nights. I'll keep you posted! Thanks again!
