Breaking News
A manhunt in Valley Stream has forced several schools to go into lockdown mode. Valley Stream District 30, which includes Clear Stream Ave., Forest Rd. and Shaw Ave. are in lock down. Schools in the Valley Stream Union Free School District 24, Valley Stream High School South and Valley Stream Central High School District are also in lockdown mode. Police have three robbery suspects in custody. They are searching for more possible suspects. Stay tuned to News 12 Long Island and News12.com for more on this developing story.

09/29/06) VALLEY STREAM - A police manhunt in Valley Stream has forced a lockdown of several schools in the area Friday.
Valley Stream District 30, which includes Clear Stream Ave., Forest Rd. and Shaw Ave. schools are in lockdown. Schools in the Valley Stream Union Free School District 24, Valley Stream High School South and Valley Stream Central High School District are also in lockdown mode.
Police have three robbery suspects in custody. SWAT teams, Nassau police and the NYPD remain on the scene searching for more possible suspects.

They don't say, but if it about the local robberies that occurred in Franklin Square & that area it might be. The police suspected that the robbers were of school age.

VHS North is NOT on lock down, BTW...I can see it from my house and it's business as usual over there. So Lori, in our immediate area,,,it is safe, thank God!!

I don't think it was. The kids were out wandering during lunch as always. I am right down the road from the teacher's lot...I heard helicopters in the far off distance. But the kids were still milling about. This is SD #13 and wasn't even listed as one of the lock-down districts.
But...glad to hear everything is OK.

We were on lock down all day in District #24 (I work with Danielleandscott's sister). There were initially three men on the loose up the block from our school, two were captured, and one is still on the loose as we speak.

OMG NO WAY!! I was near East Meadow HS today and they shut down Carmen Ave. I was wondering why!
ETA ok I just read that it was in Valley Stream. not sure what was happening on Carmen Ave then

This happens more than you think! We've had 2 lockouts this year (I don't work in Valley Stream) and we haven't even been in school for a month! Lockdowns are more severe but still, it's only september!
