Natural Cycle IVF
Has anyone tried a natural IVF and if so, what was the outcome? Please include your age and any issues that may be inhibiting your fertility. thanks!

Re: Natural Cycle IVF
"natural" meaning you do not use any fertility drugs. they follow your natural cycle, daily monitor of ovulation, lots of ultrasounds and then the removal of only 1 egg, which is then combined with the sperm using the regular IVF technique.

Re: Natural Cycle IVF
Got ya - I've never heard of this. I've heard of mini-IVF where the stimulation is minimal.
I'm currently on my 2nd natural FET. It's very similiar in terms of monitoring ( a TON of U/S)!!!
Best of luck to you!

Re: Natural Cycle IVF
I've never heard of it but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I have elevated FSH so that's probably why my RE never mentioned it to me. It does sound like it's more for women who do ovulate on their own and have regular cycles with no ovarian reserve or quality issue. Sorry, I'm not much help! Good luck though!

Re: Natural Cycle IVF
I don't think anyone on this board has done it.
I considered it at one point but considering that we have severe MF it would not work for us (we need lots of eggs to succeeed since we have low fertilization rates)....
Have you looked into New Hope? They specialize in Natural IVF and Mini-IVF plus I heard very good things about them....
Good luck!

It is actually the opposite...it is ideal for women who choose to live a drug- and chemical-free lifestyle, and for women who, because of age or poor fertility health, are less likely to produce multiple eggs even if heavy IVF drugs are administered. For women who cannot produce multiple eggs even with drug therapy, Natural IVF allows them to avoid the health risks and high expense of IVF drugs as well as the discomfort of daily injections. When they do undergo IVF drug therapy these women are typically offered only limited IVF access, and are either refused care or made to suffer cancelled cycles because they cannot produce more than 3-5 eggs.

Also it's believed that a non stimulated egg is of higher quality especially if there are quality or quantity issues.
The success rates are low but since it's a simpler cycle and less expensive, more cycles can be done.

Hmmm..interesting to know. Like I said, I've not familiar with it. If it is done under drug free, I wonder how they can know exactly when to retreive the egg before it's released by the ovary? I guess this procedure at least gives the women who are allergic to hormonal injection or non-respondants. Good for them!

Re: Natural Cycle IVF
Wow... and here i went thru all the drugs to only have them get one egg. The rest were unreachable due to my ovaries moving away from where they were trying to retrieve from. Unless there is a huge discount on price i dont see this being an option for me. I wonder what would happen if my situation happened and they werent able to retrieve an egg.. would they turn it into an iui?

Re: Natural Cycle IVF
There is a huge discount because there really is minimal monitoring. Some women go through the ER with no anesthesia since it's only one egg retrieved.
I have an ovary that is somewhere in Detroit too. I definitely want anesthesia though since it's hard to get to.

I didn't even know it. I've had these ovaries for a while now and who knew one was out of town!
