NB feeds every 4 hours. Should I be concerned that he doesn't feed frequently enough? How often does your NB feed?

DS either sleeps for 3-4 hours or when he's awake, he isn't always hungry. So I only get to feed him once ever 4 hours. The doctors told us we should feed every 2-3 hours. I don't know if I should be concerned that I don't feed him frequently enough.

When he does feed, he drinks a lot of milk and he has plenty of diaper changes.

I wouldn't worry at all. My DS came home from the hospital eating that way, and b/c he went for such long stretches, he became an awesome sleeper. I was getting 4-5, even 6 hours a night before he was waking. During the day, I never let him go longer than 5 w/o a bottle. 11 weeks later he is virtually on the same schedule, but just about sleeping through the night. His weight gain to date has been very healthy for his age.

Not sure if your situation is different due to BFing...but if he isn't fussing to be fed, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Sadie is 9 weeks and eats every 4, sometimes 5 hours a day. she is still getting the rec number of ounces, so Im not concerned. She is on formula though...

I BFed exclusively when DD was a newborn and she ate every two hours. She was an eater though because I produced alot of milk. She gained over one pound in one week.

My son ALWAYS ate every 4 hours and he was a sleepy Newborn and would sometimes sleep for 5 hour stretches and I Didnt wake him up to eat.

DD was eating every 3-4hrs and now at 2&1/2wks old is eating more like every 2-3hrs during the day and every 3-4hrs at night. I was starting to think the same thing as you, but every baby is different. I am not waking DD to eat - she will let me know when she is hungry I am sure your DS is just fine.
