NBA star Grant Hill and wife singer Tamia expecting!
Orlando Magic basketball star Grant Hill and singer/songwriter wife Tamia Hill have announced that they are expecting a baby.
Tamia, who is 4 months along, said, "I'm happy that the secret is out because it was getting very difficult to hide it. I performed yesterday and I caught a glimpse of myself in a reflection and I thought, 'Oh no, I'm going to have to talk about this."
In 2003, at the age of 28, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, a crippling disease that attacks the nervous system, but she says she's feeling "fine" and that "the baby is healthy, everything is great." After her diagnosis and educating herself about MS, Tamia is a now strives to make others more aware of the disease and the fact that an MS diagnosis "doesn't have to be a death sentence. She also stresses how important it is to listen to your body and to be your own best advocate. She told Jet magazine, "You know your body. You know when something isn't right. Be a pest—keep going to the doctor and keep saying 'Hey, this isn't right.'" She and Grant work with the National MS Society to help raise awareness of multiple sclerosis. In 2005, Grant said of his wife, "She's a great mother, she's active, she's entertaining. Hopefully she can be encouraging and inspiring to others."
Her fourth album, Between Friends, was released on November 14, 2006, featuring the hit "Can't Get Enough," a love song about Grant. The couple was married in 1999, having been introduced by Anita Baker. Their daughter Myla Grace Hill, 5, says she'll be "the coolest big sister ever."
