I grew up in North Babylon and may be moving back shortly. Generally, NB is a nice working class town. There is one area north of the SS Parkway and west of Belmont Park that is considered less desirable because it borders Wyandanch, so if you are seeing very reasonable homes online they may be in that area. I have heard mixed reviews about the high school (elementary and middle schools are good). But my feeling is that how a kid does in school has a lot to do with the kid and the parents and I went there and turned out ok so it can't be that bad. Plus, schools change over the years and who knows what it will be like when my kids are ready to go there. I think I will cross that bridge when I come to it:)
