Need a change, Hair color-Help on color
Its time for a change.
I have dark hair so maybe something like a deep red, or eggplant color.
Is that crazy to do?
PICS? Would love to see. I did see one girl who had it in the nail salon and it looked awesome.

i'm actually considering the same. I had red/auburn hair for years and then decided to go blonde, but to maintain it was just too much.
I recently went back to brown, but the blonde is seeping through the more I wash it. The hair stylist said this would happen it will take a couple of colorings before it evens out. Apparently its just as hard to go back to brown as it was to get the red out of my hair.
Now I'm actually wanting to go back to red, I miss it after all that

3rd pic is red highlights...a little too dramatic for me.
I dont know what to do.

You have to be very careful with red hair. It is a lot of maintenance. You have to take very good care of it or it will turn brassy.

I just went back red after being blond for a while and I have a very deep red almost a purply color and then she came back w/ bright reddish pink cherry color hi-lites.
I love it it is so different and funky. It is alot of maintenance and expensive but I am so happy w/ it.
I go to Adesso in Westbury and Donna does my hair and I get nothing but compliments.

My mom did highlights a few weeks ago and it was dark brown with lots of deep red highlights -- the color turned -and now it is brassy - the toner washed out too - now I'm really not happy with my hair color :( It's true, lots of maintenance

I have naturally dark hair and I've never gotten brassy from coloring it DARK RED (done myself from a box, so I would imagine having dark red/mahogany/whatever professionally would be fine). It just tends to fade VERY quickly.
I think this is the last color I did (early December and there are really no traces of it left!!):

I have always gone the eggplant route when it came to highlighting or coloring my hair...I have a dark chestnut color. I find that red turns orangey and looks brassy...
I actually no longer color or highlight - haven't for a number of years...I just do a color gloss every 3 or 4 months...it last about 6-8 weeks - longer depending on how many times you wash your hair a week & makes your hair shiny and is much healthier for it...just an fyi in case you weren't sure which color route to go...

i have an appt. the 26th I will take a pic then when it is nice and fresh plus today I curled it so you don't get the full effect

yeah be careful...I dyed my hair once a dark auburn color....and after a few weeks it turned brassy...I didn't realize at the time how much matienence red hair was going to be.
So since I've never dyed it red...I only highlight now.

Reds usually fades very quickly.
Make sure to use a glaze to avoid the brassy look. It's best to have a color specialist do it that doing a home kit. IMO!

The reds do fade pretty fast. I find that using the color depositing shampoos/conditioners in between work well.
