need a chocolate cookie recipe
I am going to be making my Christmas cookies this weekend and I need a new chocolate cookie recipe to add to the mix. I have tried some chocolate cookie recipes before, but never come across any that I love. Any suggestions for a great chocolate cookie? It can have other stuff in it, but I would like the base to be chocolate.
Thanks!

Re: need a chocolate cookie recipe
Here's a link to one that I made last week for a party, and DH loved, so they are getting made again this week...
Paula Deen's Chocolate Gooey Butter Cookies
And here is another that people seem to love - they are VERY rich though...
Ghiradelli Ultimate Double Chocolate Chip Cookies:
1 bag (11.5 oz.) 60% Cacao Bittersweet Choc. Chips 6 Tbsp (3/4 stick) unsalted butter 3 eggs 1 cup sugar 1/3 cup flour 1/2 tsp baking powder 1 bag semi-sweet choc. chips (12 oz.)
In a double boiler over hot water, melt bittersweet chips & butter. In a large bowl, beat eggs & sugar until thick. Stir in choc. mixture. In a small bowl, combine flour & baking powder. Stir into choc. mixture. Mix in semi-sweet chips.
Using plastic wrap, form dough into 2 logs, each 2 inches in diameter, 8 inches long. As dough will be VERY sfot, use plastic wrap to hold dough. Wrap tightly. Refridgerate at least 1 hr, or until firm.
Preheat oven to 375. Unwrap dough & cut into 3/4 inch slices. Place on ungreased or parchment lined cookie sheet. Bake 12 -14 mins or until shiny crust forms on top but interior is still soft.

These really are yummy, but I will forewarn you that wrapped in the plastic, they don't look so appetizing

Re: need a chocolate cookie recipe
I am dying to make these...
Salted Double Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies
Yield: 16 to 18 large cookies
Prep Time: 15 minutes | Bake Time: 12 minutes
1¼ cups all-purpose flour ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder 1 teaspoon baking powder ½ teaspoon baking soda ½ teaspoon salt ½ cup (4 ounces) unsalted butter, at room temperature ¾ cup creamy peanut butter 2/3 cup light brown sugar 1/3 cup granulated sugar 2 eggs 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips ½ cup peanuts Coarse salt for sprinkling
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
2. In a medium bowl whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt; set aside.
3. Beat together the butter, peanut butter and both sugars on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes, scraping the bowl as needed. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add the vanilla extract. Scrape the bowl. Add the dry ingredients and mix on low until just combined. Using a rubber spatula, stir in the chocolate chips and peanuts.
4. Drop by two heaping tablespoonfuls of dough, spacing the cookies about 2 inches apart. Sprinkle a small pinch of coarse salt on top of each cookie. Bake for about 12 minutes, or until the outside of the cookies are set but the middles are still a little soft. Cool cookies on the baking sheets. Store in an airtight container.
