Need a good book idea for Pre-K children
I'm the mystery reader in my son's pre-k class on Friday and need a good book idea. We have a ton of great books, but I was hoping to get something new so I could give it to my son as a surprise after school.
ETA: my son is 4.5 so the kids in his class are 4&5.

Re: Need a good book idea for Pre-K children
Any of the "Pigeon" books by Mo Willems. (Don't Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late, Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, etc).
If they are older Pre-K kids, "The True Story of the Three Little Pigs" by John Scieszka. My DD is 3.5 and she LOOOOOVES that book!!
Any of the "Llama Llama" books by Anne Dewdny.

My DD's 4 year class these were the top two I have heard about this year- DD said the kids loved these two and thought they were really funny.

ITA with these suggestions. I teach kindergarten and the kids (and I!) love the pigeon book..my favorite is the pigeon eats a hot dog. All of Mo Willems books are great!
And the true story of the 3 little pigs is great also!

Re: Need a good book idea for Pre-K children
Brookie Cokkie Bookie
its really a good book for kids...
from the webpage 'Follow young Brooke and her friends through the poetic pages of Brookie Cookie Bookie as they discover the differences that make them unique and the universal truths that bring them together. Watch, through a series of disarmingly beautiful illustrations – drawn by the real-life Brooke, age 3, and her friends – as they declare their personal choices for activities, the weather, colors and more. What emerges is a tale of love, friendship and diversity as told by Brooke’s real-life mom, first-time author Robin Rosenberg.
*Attention teachers* We now offer six anti-bullying lesson plans that coincide with Brookie Cookie Bookie. They encourage elementary aged children to work together in creating books that follow the poetic rhythm of my book, all while they discover what they have in common with their peers. The lesson plans are for all children, including those with disabilities. Please contact me at [email protected] for more information.

The Tickle Monster! The book comes with furry tickle mitts. DH read it to DS' class last year. They loved it! Our neice who is a first grade teacher gave DS the book.
PS. DH did not really tickle the kids. He just made believe. We tickle DS like crazy when we read it at home.

Me too!!!! I have 3 copies right now for Ella. They also have a newer one called "Another Monster at the End of This Book" and that one features Elmo along with Grover. But I'm not sure how into Elmo pre-schoolers are
I also like "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom". I remember reading that to the kids when I used to work in the ELC and they loved it.
