Need a recommendation for a good book....
Let me first say that I have NOT read a book since college (granted that's only like 3 years ago) ........ but I never enjoyed reading. It's sad, I know.... especially because I'm a teacher and always encouraging my students to read!
Can someone recommend a good book for the summer? I like books about families, relationships, romances... nothing too dramatic and nothing that takes place before 1950.
Thanks!! Hopefully one of you ladies can turn me into a reader this summer!
ETA: oops!!! I posted this on the wrong board!!!!!! Well, I am still open to suggestions!!

i just saw the movie preview for this when i saw angels & demons this weekend. holy crap..the previews were making me cry. that book must be a real tear jerker.
Now for books..
I would suggest grapes of wrath..amazing book...but its set in the 1920's i believe so its before the time period you suggest...sooo
anything by Michael Connelly i find great. he has a new book out this month. they're crime novels so im not sure if thats your speed. but he's a great story teller.
i also used to read a lot of ANN RULE. true crime writer. Stranger Beside me is about her friendship with Ted Bundy...its very interesting.

come out of the stone age and get facebook!!!!!!
if youre looking for easy summer reads i love nicholas sparks, three weeks with my brother (i could not put this book down!!!), message in a bottle, bend in the road. or Eat, Pray, Love: One Woman's Search for Everything Across Italy, India and Indonesia by elizabeth gilbert (such a feel good kinda book)
guilty pleasure - the devil wears prada, read it before the movie came out.. it was entertaining.
the bell jar by sylvia plath is one of my all time favorites.
i just read angels and demons for the second time, love it. but its more of an 'involved' read, not a casual beach read.
jodi picoult is good too! i have a huge bookshelf loaded with good books. ill look when i get home.
eta: i never used to be a reader either until recently. now i looove to read!
