need a sliding glass patio door installed but....
its not a simple installation. Right now there is a window there and we would like it to be a sliding door to the backyard. The problem is -- the radiator for the baseboard heating runs across the wall we would need to cut a hole in -- as well as an electrical outlet. Who should we call about this installation? a contractor? a plumber? electrician? we dont know where to start...

Re: need a sliding glass patio door installed but....
We did this. We cut a wall and installed sliders. I had a plumber come and cut the baseboard, then drill into the cement sub-floor and run the baseboard under the cement. We then filled the hole with cement and installed the doors. We will have to get a general contractor or licensed handyman

We did the exact same thing. DH's friend who is in heating and air conditioning did the re-routing of the pipes.

I'd go with a licensed contractor. As someone else mentioned, he would have plumbers and electricians that could handle those aspects. The contractor would be able to make sure the structural aspect of the changes were to code and done correctly. I would recommend the contractor that did our dormer and bathrooms - PM me if you want a name and number.

I am currently using this contractor and we just had the same thing done, except we have forced air and a vent will be moved
The doors are in and so far so good!!!

Agreed. We just had the same exact thing done. The contractor handled having the plumber come in to move the heating pipes, and he handled the electric himself. FM me if you want his info.
