Need advice & recommendations on a thermometer
We are just starting TTC this month and I'd like to start charting my body temperature. Can I just get a thermometer from a pharmacy? What do I get...a basal body thermometer? Any recommendations? After I get the the thermometer, do I begin temping on the 1st day of AF? I am so clueless How does it work exactly?
I appreciate any info! TIA!

Re: Need advice & recommendations on a thermometer
First you need a basal body temperature, NOT a regular one. you can get one at any pharmacy or I ordered mine on line. I have a digital one that has pink on it so i don't get it confused with a regular one.
You start taking your temps on CD 1, first day of AF. You continue to take your temp through your cycle and either log the temps into a site like Fertilityfriend.com or Mymonthlycycles.com. You can also do it yourself, you can download a graph off of mymonthlycycles I believe for free.
make sure you take your temps at the same time every day, even on the weekends. It sounds like a bigger pain then it actually is. I wake up at 5:45 am on the weekdays and on the weekends I just set my alarm take my temp and go right back to bed. I am not a heavy sleeper, and the temps are the most accurate after 3 consecutive hours of sleep. When you don't get the 3 hours of consecutive sleep just make sure you mark so on your chart, just for reference.
After you have three consecutive days of an elevated temp that is how you will know that you ovulated.
I hope this helps!

Re: Need advice & recommendations on a thermometer
I just went to CVS and picked up a basal one - that was digital - that was back in 06 but I think they were only about $9.

I got mine from CVS too, it's purple, and I found it right with the OPK's and PG tests.
