I totally understand your feelings so no flames here, we gave David the MMR shot in May when he was almost 2 years old... it was couple of weeks before our trip to Poland (I was scared that he might catch something travelling so I wanted him to be protected against these diseases)... anyways, David is fine, talking away, so I am sure your son will be ok too!

I honestly don't 100% believe the whole vaccine causing autism thing - An I stick w/ the normal vaccine schedule for Sean ........
but I will admit I am dreading that MMR b/c of that 1% of me that is worried maybe it IS the cause ........

Definitely do what YOU think is best in the long run for him. And I agree with Kate, see what his doctors and therapists say (I know you said they both are OK with the MMR).
Personally, our ped gives the MMR at 15 months at the same time as chicken pox. I delayed both; she got Chicken Pox vaccine at 18 months, and just got the MMR last month (she was 27 months). I just didn't want to do them beforehand, and she's off the charts for speech with no issues thankfully...but I personally wanted to wait. I, however, was not a fan of the split shots (M, M, R) b/c like you said, it's 3x more preservatives in them than the full shot.
ETA: Now I'm going to research the Dtap b/c I didn't know the studies as some people said on here...I had no idea about that!

Re: Need advice & support regarding the MMR vaccine (long)
First, I agree that you need to do what makes you feel most comfortable.
I don't really think that the vaccine CAUSES autism, but I'm not convinced that it doesn't trigger something that's already there.
Our ped doesn't give the MMR until 15 months, and I'm not gonna lie - I was happy DD was sick right before her 15 month visit so she couldn't get it on time. Being in day care, my choices are taken away from me wrt vaccines, but if she's sick, she's sick and there's nothing that can be done about it. She eventually got the MMR at 19 months and she still hasn't gotten the chicken pox yet. She had no reaction to it.
If I were in your shoes, I'd probably bite the bullet and get it now because I feel by 27 months you would have seen the signs already. Like I said above, you need to do what makes you feel most comfortable (in this VERY uncomfortable situation).
