Need Advice - new phone number was fax number!

We got our new home phone number 3 days ago - it seems that our number is a fax number - yesterday there were all these fax calls from Eastman Kodak - DH called them and told them to stop faxing us and today I came home to SIX fax calls on the answering machine from some local company - called them too.
DH called the phone company yesterday to see if they could block the fax numbers or anything and they were no help - told him he could Nuisance hotline and file report and it gets passed to police but obviously, they're not those types of calls.
DH thinks if this continues another day I should call and demand new number? Is that what you would do? Is there anything else we can do? With our luck, it would be another fax number...
Meanwhile, of course our number is so nice and easy to remember!
Anyone else ever have this problem?

I work for verizon...just call and let them know that your new number was a fax and you are getting an overload of annoying fax calls. Happens all the time...what people sometimes forget is that most businesses have easy numbers so people remember them. When people call and get a new phone, they pretty much always ask for an easy number and most of them belonged to a business at one time.

I always get calls from people thinking its the number to get the correct time.

**also ask them to check and see if the number belonged to a business and ask if they can give you a number that hasnt been used in awhile. If you get someone nice, it shouldnt be a problem.

I just did a reverse phone search to see what it came up with and it came up with a regular person's phone number - not a business - guess they had a fax in the house!

we had the same problem....it was so freaking annoying. I hooked u p our fax machine to the line and when we got a fax in, I called the place that was faxing and told them to stop it that this was a phone number...not a fax.

they stopped but I told my DH that if it didnt stop after that, i would fax them repeatily all day for days so that they can never get a fax in or out!!

Yes, i would do it tomorrow and get it over with. If you have gotten that many fax calls already, who knows how many more you will get....
