Need advice about stocking up on diapers.

I'm 35 weeks and want to go get some diapers to stock up a bit. I have some coupons for this week at BRU. My baby girl is already over 6lbs and is expected to be about 9 at birth.

Can any of you BTDT Mommies suggest diaper sizes and amounts to stock up on? I'm clueless.

Thanks and I can't wait to officially join you on the parenting board!

Honestly, I wouldn't go by the estimated weight, and I also wouldn't stock up on diapers. You don't know what kinds you'll like or if your DC will have a reaction to them or what not. Plus, they send you home with a ton, so you will at least have a few days supply.

Well, the hospital (or mine did at least) put DS in 1's right away. They are 8-14lbs. I would personally, buy a package of the NB Swaddlers and then a bigger package of the 1's. Just so you have them, you don't know what is going to work so well or how big she will really be.

DS is 12 weeks old and 11lbs and still wears 1's during the day (he needs 2's at night b/c he sleeps longer and needs the absorbancy)

HTH!

I personally wouldn't buy too many diapers bc you never know which brand will work for your child.

I also wouldnt put too much weight on what the sono's are estimating the weight to be. They were off for me both times. DS#1 was predicted to be 8.5lbs he was 10lbs 3oz. DS#2 was predicted to be 10lbs+ but he was 8lbs 12oz.

I would buy a Mega or (Super Mega) pack of newborns and then a large box of size 1. That way if she is a big baby she'll use up the NB size the first week or two and move on to size one. And if it looks like she'll be in NB longer then just go buy more.

I wouldn't stock up on diapers either- it's hard to know how your baby will grow. I have over a case of size 1s and 1-2 Swaddlers that DD grew straight through. I'm going to store them for #2, but I have better things to do with my limited storage space.

Diapers are always on sale somewhere.

I agree that I wouldn't stock up as you don't know what you're going to like (I personally don't like Huggies). I had the NB size but they were tight on DD within the first 12 weeks (she was 8lbs 13oz @ birth). The 1 size is the best to buy, IMO.
