Need Advice for Printing on Metallic Envelopes!
I'm working on my sister's Bridal Shower invites and they came with Silver Metallic envelopes.
I printed the return address last night and let all the envelopes air dry so that they wouldn't smudge. I figured I would do the mailing addresses today and give them a day to dry as well.
WELL, they still smudge. I knew this was going to happen as soon as I received the invites.
Does anybody have any printing experience with metallic envelopes?
Are there any tricks to keeping the ink from smudging?
(I refuse to use "sticker" address labels, so I just ordered backup envelopes which I need to pickup this afternoon.)

Re: Need Advice for Printing on Metallic Envelopes!
Print it in draft
they are the same as vellum, and when I print on vellum, I use draft
You will still have to let them dry but they will and much faster

Re: Need Advice for Printing on Metallic Envelopes!
are you using a laser printer or ink?
I think the laser might be better for that kind of job.

i was just going to say the same thing... you might want to try a laser jet... some papers just cant be printed on by an ink jet... it will keep smudging no matter what you do...

Before printing the addresses...take your hair dryer and try to dry the return address...see if that helps to set it. If it works then I would suggest it for the addresses.

Re: Need Advice for Printing on Metallic Envelopes!
I tried draft mode, but the ink just doesn't seem to be adhering to the paper. (It looks like I'm printing on wax paper.)
I'm using an ink printer and I don't think I'll be able to convince my DH to buy a laser printer just for my sister's bridal shower invites.
Oh well. I just have to make do with the backup envelopes I ordered this morning.
This is what the invite looks like:
So I ordered these 2 kinds of envelopes, not knowing which one would look best:
I just can't risk the Metallic Envelopes getting a little wet during delivery and smudging all over the place.

Even in Draft mode...you have to let them dry overnight....and I do not think you can out those types of envelopes in a laser printer...it gets too hot

I was thinking the same thing. The matte kind are really good, you can't even tell they are on.

Re: Need Advice for Printing on Metallic Envelopes!
Try a spray - like hairspray or a drying spray that they use on your nails. I don't think they leave a mark on the envelopes. One of the girls here did that for her wedding invites and it worked like a charm!
